I signed up on line for a Free Credit Report as I am entitled to receive every year. After I received the (FREE) Credit Reports, I noticed that AP9 Privacy Plus, was changing my credit card with a monthly charge for some service I did not ask for. This is a SCAM! I have tried to contact them several times via telephone and E-mail, and they ignore me. I have notified my credit card bank of the problem. The bank tells me that I can't dispute the monthly charges because it is from a 3rd Party Vendor, whatever that is.

I have noticed that Privacy Plus has many complaints, on the internet that are the same as mine. They should be SHUT DOWN and not allowed to do business in the U.S.

Maryann, I did read everything. I requested and received my credit reports and canceled the same day. I was told I would be charged 1 dollar to my credit card which thay did. The only problem is they have been charging me 1 dollar monthly for 5 months. It's useless to try and get them to stop. I'm now trying to get my credit card to stop them. Roger

We should really stop signing up for things online and read everything!

I thought I got rip off too, but its actually are faults for not reading and signing up for things online... I was wondering why they would ask for 1.00 processing fee if its FREE. And it is.. if you call and cancel with in the 7 day trial period, you get your 1.00 back, canceled, no more charges... According to the "terms & conditions" on their site, you DID sign up for this: "Along with your FREE Credit Report and Credit Score with your information from the three credit bureaus merged into one report you'll have a full 7 days to try Privacy Matters 1-2-3 FREE." Is there a trial membership period? How does it work? Upon enrolling, you may have a trial membership period during which you can use the program benefits as much as you'd like. If you find the service is not for you, you may cancel before the end of the trial period by calling 1-800-436-0817 and you won't be charged the membership fee*. If you wish to continue with your membership after the trial period, do nothing and the membership fee and terms you agreed to will be automatically charged to the billing source authorized by you. All of this is clearly explained in your Offer Details when you sign up for any of our programs, and again when you received your Welcome Information. * Online enrollees will be charged a $1.00 processing fee, in accordance with the agreed upon enrollment terms. Next time, read ALL the fine print before you give up your credit card information. The fact that you didn't take the time to read the terms doesn't make it a scam. Why didn't you just order your report for free from the credit bureaus? Why would yahoo care about what some other business does? The BBB can only offer you a non-binding mediation if the business is a member of the BBB. Key Word: non-binding. They will take a complaint, but don't expect anything to come of it. We can try to sue them, press charges ect ect... but honestly we will loose in the end. I'm sorry but thats what we get for not reading!! So I will not be ever signing up for nothing online!
