A company by the name of Americredit filed a 1099-C and chose tax year 2012. Now the IRS is telling me I now owe taxes because this 1099-C form is considered income-even though it is not actual income.
This is absolutely ridiculous and there has to be a way to fight this-I do not even know who these people are.

We received letter from the IRS saying owe money from 2012. This was about a Form 1099-C. We never received this. Few months ago ran credit report notice supposely purchased a car or truck? 2007? through this company. It shows this happen in Georgia when were living in South Carolina. This suppose to be removed from credit report in August. So well did not dispute due to the removal date. Now will need to try to get this clear up. It is obvious WE are not the only ones! I am a disable veteran, my husband tries to work with serious heart problems, really did not need this added stress. Can someone stop this company? Thank you!
