American Credit Educators (ACE) rip-off consumer fraud Denver Colorado
In 1999 I had received an ACE Visa card and educational kit. I read the information and called United Credit National Bank, who was handling ACE at the time, to let them know that I did not want the card or the kit. I too was told to send the kit back to the address on the box, and to cut up the card and send it back along with a letter stating that I do not want it.
A little while after doing this, I received an invoice from United Credit National Bank, showing that I had been credited $49 for the annual fee, $60 for a late fee (why would I have a late fee?), $300.95 for the kit cost, and $43.30 for finance charges, and that my balance was $0.00.
This past week, I applied for a loan. I WAS DENIED!! The reason: I was told that my credit report stated that I owe ACE $300 and that I am 90+ days delinquent 48 times. BUT, it also has an entry for United Credit National Bank and that states that it was closed by the consumer in 1999 and I owe nothing.
I called United Credit National Bank, and they informed me that they no longer handle anything to do with American Credit Educators. They gave me the phone number for them, but for some odd reason, I haven't been able to get anyone on the phone.
My main question: Why, if United Credit National Bank, who was handling this at the time and is listed as the sender's address on all correspondence received from them, closed my account, sent me an invoice showing the credits (which I still have), and put in my credit report that it was closed by the consumer, is American Credit Educators able to say that I owe them $300?????
