Just before Christmas a group of us flew America 'Worst' airlines from Denver to Oakland. The flight to Oakland went OK, it was the return that we got ripped off. We arrived at the airport with plenty of time to spare, but were told the plane had mechanical problems. They strung us along for 30-40 minutes while we talked to one rep after another. Finally they decided (even though we were told at the beginning that the chances of our flight taking place was 10% or less) that the flight was cancelled. We were first offered another carrier leaving in 20 minutes, but then had to come back as there was not enough time to clear Security and board the flight. Then we were told we could be shuttled to SF airport across the bay. By the time this offer was made, that flight was leaving in less than 90 minutes. It was then 6pm, no way to get across the bay in time. We were then offered a flight at 6am the next morning. We took it, and were given vouchers for the flight. I had to ask 3 or 4 times about a hotel for the night before I was given vouchers for rooms. Even though I had been clear to the rep a couple of times that we were from Denver, and had to work the next morning, we were questioned 'can't you just stay where you were last night?' and do 'all of you really need somewhere to stay?' I was not pleased, we were made to feel like freeloaders, when the flight was cancelled ON US! I then asked about meals. It was 7pm by this time, we had been at the airport for hours, not to mention (I didn't even think about it at the time) that our early bird flight the next morning left before the hotel started serving breakfast. We were told that due to financial problems with the airline, we were 'lucky to get a hotel' and no food would be provided. We spent $71 for 4 on dinner, and breakfast was no big deal as we would have been on our own at home anyway had we gotten a flight out that evening. I have only recently contacted the airline, no response as of yet. The customer service provided was bad enough for me to let you know to beware this airline, they can rip you off!
