I should have listened to all the other reviews.  But this 'Jackie' that kept responding to online complaints seemed to help most people.  However, my question at the time - and still is - why does someone have to get nasty with a review for the world to see before the company does what they were supposed to do in the first place?

We purchased simple travel insurance which included delayed baggage.  Sure enough, a bag was delayed.  We purchased some necessary items, though some we had luckily enough, and made our claim.  The claim was for over $300 though our insurance would cover up to $500.  Sure enough, Allianz found a reason to dismiss our claim based on "the delay you encountered did not meet the minimum number of hours outlined in your insuring agreement."

I'll be darned if I can find anywhere where there's a 'minimum number of hours' outlined in our agreement.  Here's what the agreement states verbatim:

When it Applies:  A common carrier, hotel or tour operator delays your baggage for 24 hours or more.  (Which they did).

Specific Requirement:  You report the loss and file a claim with the common carrier, hotel or tour operator.  (Which we did).

What it Covers:  Please refer to your letter of confirmation to confirm your coverage and limits in your plan.  (We did and seemed we were good to go).

Reasonable essential items:  Reasonable essential items for you to use until your baggage arrives.  (Which we did).

That's it.  That's all it says.  Just goes to show you shouldn't purchase a 'simple' insurance because it won't cover a single thing.  Apparently, you really do have to purchase insurance plans that a lawyer needs to go over for you because you will not get paid otherwise.  I have emailed them, and given them 3 days to respond with where this 'minimum number of hours' shows on their plan. Otherwise, I may be notifiying my attorney (then again, small claims court is cheaper), the BBB, my state attorney general's office, and Virginia's state attorney general's office.

Do NOT buy this 'insurance'!!
