Had an issue with them selling open box as new a while back. Complained to them and on the boards.Helen Oster, their damage control Internet cop started posting Googled information which she percieved as negative on me. Anyway this went on for a bit and was finally forgotten. Recently I place an order thru Buy.Com for an item NOT knowing that Adorama would be the shipper. To make a long story short, the item was shipped and while it was out on the truck for delievery they recalled it. Now a company that bites off its own nose to spite its face is not a good company to do business with anyway.I am also glad that they recalled the item that was out for delivery anyway as I never would have ordered if I had known that it was this den of thieves that I was doing business with. Stay far away from any type of company that closes on Saturdays that has complaint after complaint behind it and some full time clown doing damage control.

They are well known in the city (and nationwide) for their customer service. I did not realize they closed on Saturdays, but I imagine that, like B&H photo (another awesome place; if you ever visit NYC, you have to drop by), it if for religious reasons. Now tell me: what kind of a company would give up a ton of revenue (Saturday is a big shopping day) so that they can follow one of the Ten Commandants? I mean, does it not make sense that they would be devout with the other 9?

If you want to see crap service, give J&R a shot. If you want the real deal, Adorama and B&H are the way to go.

 Oh and for the ignorant racists out there, Jewish does not necessarily mean Zionist. I am Jewish, but absolutely NOT Zionist, unlike the vast majority of, say, Southern Baptists.

I can't believe that vile comments like this can be posted.

As a Pro Photographer I have shopped at Adorama for years; I guess my average spend is in the region of $50 - $100,00 every year.

I buy new and used, and I always choose Adorama first to re-sell equipment. With any big business there are going to be issues now & again, but with any customer there are going to be good, bad - and downright evil.

IMO anyone who uses a scumbag website like RipOff Report to make a complaint is a bit stupid, anyway. Jeez. Contact their CS dept, contact Helen Oster (who, by the way, is extremely helpful & a consumate professional), or report it on a photography website like POTN or Fred Miranda. But not here. That's just ridiculous.

ripoff report does itself no favors by allowing nasty, racist comments to stand alongside consumer complaints about either customer service or products.

In my opinion, you should amend your policy which doesn't allow you to remove reports, when those reports have absolutely nothing to do with a product or service being provided.

America is a democratic country with free speech, but racisim is not allowed and it shouldn't be allowed here, either.

I am shocked that in the 21st Century that nasty, racist, libellous statements like these can be allowed to be written and published in America today.

The owners of this website are just as bad if they think it's OK to let these comments stand.

Fine, let an unhappy consumer complain about a company's service or products, that's one thing. But quite frankly the credibility of this site & the service it purports to give drops to a big, fat zero when spiteful rants like this one are permitted.

Having read this rubbish, my first inclination is to go and shop at Adorama - and to tell all my friends to do so as well. Adorama is better off without evil creatures like you darkening its doors.

2/11 This is one good example why people should not  buy from Adorama the online camera store, especially if you are buying from outside the USA.Before I get into the details, I should express that I have purchased approximately 5 items from them over the last 7 years or so.  I have been burnt twice,



2/14 I have tried to contact them via email, and I am yet to get a reply.To me this sounds like a scam: falsely advertise an item (especially to an overseas buyer); reply their email dishonestly; the buyer gets charged $200 tax on a lens that he did not intend to buy; cease contact with they buyer once you have ripped him off.

I tend to reflexively agree with the Closed Saturday, Stay Away philosophy, due to my own experiences, BUT you are making YOURSELF obnoxious by repeatedly posting this report. And when people do that, it makes others suspicious about the veracity of their claims AND brings into questions their motives, especially when the issue involves ethnicity/religion issues and possible counterclaims due to that. Bottom line on this purchase was that the company actually did you a favor by pulling back the package and in the end, on this purchase, you were NOT ripped off and lost no money. And newsflash for you: plenty of so called Kriss-Chan businesses, or business people making a show of how Kriss-Chan they are, rip folks off right and left. Read the countless reports on here involving sell proclaimed holy rollers who take advantage of the gullible. The practice is not limited to Hasid Giooz. If there's one Muzzlim legal practice that would help our society greatly it would probably be severing the hand of thieves.
