Gee Dave a 300z is a expensive toy? Lets see I work for Aamco for about twenty years and when they came out they were expensive about 1100 to 1200 dollars what I would as a owner of the car is call the dealer and see what the price of a new trans would be Oh the reason I retired well lets say the Aamco in Cathedral city Ca. was realy crooked and I really didn't put in all this effort or spend all the money on tools and books to let someone make me look like a thief.

to the owner of the nissan 300z, you have an expensive sports car. why to you think the transmission should be cheap to repair? also, in many cases it is necessary to remove and inspect parts to make a knowledgable diagnosis. should you not be charged for this labor? just because you do not like the diagnosis does not mean you shouldn't pay for the labor to present the information, assuming you consented to it.
also, do you realize how far away the fan is from the transmission, and that the fan has absolutely nothing to do with the transmission. why would a tranny tech be anywhere near the fan let alone wrenching on it? your vehicle is obviously not new, I would expect many such repairs in the future due to the abuse drivers give sports cars, and I would expect each and every repair to be expensive.

It's been a while that I took my car to AMMCO to do transmission job for my 1990 NISSAN 300zx. I did not know that they over charge me till I read the article from the site. I did spend over $4000 for rebuilt transmission.

First start from around $2k for the estimeate. I told them to put thing back, I will do other shop. But they said they can put everything back for $800 then I can go.

Now I got no choice. I decided to let them do my car. After that they always add things up. I ended up paid around $4 for my 1990 NISSAN 300zx. A month later, the plastic piece for fan cover broken and cause the fan broken too due to loosing a screw.

I believed this was their fault because nobody touch the engine after they finished their job. But I couldn't prove that to them. So they refuse to response anything at all.

Ammco Transmission located in Bountiful Utah are RETARDS!!!!! Two weeks ago, I take my V.W. Jetta in because of a bad transmission. I figured that they would take pretty good care of me because the cost to fix it would be over $1,500. They told me a week at the most.

I call in on Monday and they tell me that they had to order a part in from California and they sent the wrong one so they were going to call around the Salt Lake valley to Volkswagon for the part.

Well, Volkswagon wouldn't sell them the part so, "apparently" they spent 4 hours on the phone looking for the part. So on Tueday, I call in, and they were putting my car back together. They had lost my fifth gear and had to order a part in. "Free of cost" is what they told me. Well, duh, they lost it, it should be free.

Wednesday comes along and they forgot to overnight it. So, Thursday, they told me they ordered the part and I could pick it up this Friday. I call them to make sure it was fixed, and they told me that the part didn't show up until five minutes before I called.

Bull Crap!! They told me the car would be ready on Monday. So, we'll see what happens. They also tried to add on extra labor and I told them no way. Then they told me that they wouldn't fix the car and I would have to take it as it was. So, I said fine, I'll pay you. But when I go in, I won't pay but the origional base price that they told me.
