The DeLand Aamco replaced the engine on my Saturn Vue three months ago, at a cost of $3000.00.  Two days ago, the starter on my car died--and the mechanic I called came out to the house and says it is because oil leaked from the engine onto the starter.

I called Aamco and spoke with Chris, who kept talking over me and telling me that since I called another mechanic (I cannot afford to have my vehicle towed to Aamco as well as get it repaired due to an oil leak in the engine they installed) and my son was supposed to bring the car back to Aamco at 8am the next day (the starter died after my son left Aamco, and prior to the next day, in the parking lot at Walgreen's, and I was able to have the car towed home with my roadside assistance--which I've now used up) that it was "all on" me.

Then he hung up on me.  So much for Aamco and their warranty, and Chris's clear lack of customer service skills.

EDITED TO ADD UPDATE:

AAMCO: Just an F/Y/I....we towed the car in at no expense to the customer. Told them if it had anything to do with our repair we would cover it. The oil on the starter was from the prior engine that had put a rod through the block. We did replace the starter and replaced the battery which was also was bad. We are sorry you weren't happy with our customer service and it was mentioned to Chris. He gets very, very busy trying to get every ones car repaired and back to them as soon as possible.

MJ Falango: It should be noted that--while corporate did arrange to have the vehicle towed to the DeLand AAMCO--the charge for the replacement starter was $420. This was at least $100 higher than each of the other three repair shops with which I checked. Also, by stating that the oil was from the engine they replaced, they make clear that when they replaced the OILESS engine, they did NOT check to see if any other damage had occurred. Further, the day we first took the car to AAMCO and were told to return the next day, AutoZone had tested the battery, and reported a 96% charge. But once AAMCO towed the car, I was at their mercy. Hence, a new--and unnecessary--$150 battery.

MJ Falango: As far as Chris goes, he's very fortunate to work for ANY place which will tolerate repeated (as evidenced by the many recent one-star Google and Yelp reviews that mention Chris) episodes of poor customer service. Had I treated anyone the way he repeatedly does, I'd have been fired on the spot. Even a minimum-wage fast food employee would quickly find himself unemployed.
