I finally found a site that lists multiple complaints of fraud against XBids.com for stealing money.
This is one of the many letters sent to them explaining the fraud :

To: xBids.com <[email protected]
Sent: Monday, January 3, 2012 1:31 AM
Subject: Att. ADMINISTRATION- URGENT

To Whom it May Concern: I was informed by a reputable tv news cast that if I entered a promo code at your web site that I could try out your auction site free of charge & receive 20 free bids.
I entered the code along with my name and on the next page I was instructed to scroll down to the bottom and fill out my address and debit card. I left the debit info blank but it would not proceed & stated that the info was "mandatory & only used for purchasing future wins ". Then underneath it said - Push this button to proceed to the auction page with promo bids. To my horror another page appeared instead and said, "CONGRATULATIONS" You have just purchased 75 points and your total cost is $75.00 dollars. I panicked because that was all the money we had for Dec. for everything. I tried over & over to cancel it including e-mailing but you never responded.

I called my bank and the money was gone in 5 minutes ! I called the investigation unit of my bank
and they said that their new policy dictated that I had to deal directly with XBids.
On Christmas morning we woke to no tree,no gifts, & no dinner. You stole our humble XMas.

It is people like you that make it difficult to convince my child to forgive & that a wrong can be righted by communicating clearly.         I don't know how you sleep at night.

#2REBUTTAL Owner of company

Mon, June 25, 2012

Hello,

I'm VERY sorry to hear that the old XBIDS.com site didnt give you the credits that you deserve. In May of 2012, their domain name expired and I purchased it. So its under new management which has NO AFFILIATION with the previous owners.

I would appreciate it if you would remove this review as this company is no longer in business and hasnt been since 2010. I'd gladly hand you their contact information if I had it.

I also own xbid.com and have for the past 7+ years which is why I wanted this domain. As I have absolutely nothing to do with their previous mistakes, I just wanted to set the record straight.

I run a legit albeit very small (right now) auction website. Not a penny auction like xbids did but a regular auction.

I'd gladly give you the $ amount in credits you were owed from the xbids site on my current website if you create a free account and email me back your account name. The credits will be good for listing upgrades and final auction fees.

Thanks!
-Matt

Update with Important Info & CNN News

#3Author of original report

Sat, June 23, 2012

I went through a folder in my e-mail containing all the letters sent to XBids & I read that the News Report that promoted XBids.com and gave the "promo code for free bids" was CNN. So I called them and after hrs. of searching I found someone in their fraud dept. who is looking into this mess. I will  post an update- hopefully with solutions as soon as CNN contacts me. I am also contacting "shame  on you".

Also, I tried e-mailing xbids.com  this afternoon & got a response. Their email stated that they were  reopening the auction site and that items would be posted soon. That was approx. 5 P.M. EST today 6/22/12 & there were 0 items listed on the site. I am offering this information with a request to  contact the other victims listed & have them contact me. If the xbids site is still operating then there is  still hope of having our  money returned, especially if we stick together.

p.s. This site suggested that we contact our banks within 60 days & demand to have our money  refunded. I did that from minute 1. My bank repeatedly sited a new policy that all claims must be filed directly thru the company in question despite their lack of response. Then they went bankrupt.
