My husband is a Vietnam Veteran (Navy)      A couple of months ago part of our kitchen floor fell through, and I   went through the hole. I was recovering from hip surgery so I used the walker to pull myself up out of the hole. As you can imagine, it was very painful.I had to wait 2 hours for my husband to get home to pick me up. We called USAA, but they refused our claim. There reason was "a pre-existing condition."      Their plumber said there was a leak under the house which caused the beam to rot. and fall.We have lived in this house for 7 years. how far can they go back?   The plumber they sent reported it would cost $25,000 to fix, and all things in the room had to be removed. I wanted a second opinion, because I just wanted the beam replaced, and it shouldn't  cost that much. USAA sent the SAME plumber! Of course he gave the same repport. We have a thousand dollar deductible. Do you think it's a coincidence that the bill for the crew and plumber is $1000?   USSA's reason for denial is the clause in the NC USAA contract that says they don't have to pay if it was caused by a "pre-existing condition."  This is not true in some other States. I wrote to various VA websites for help but no response.   We are each overe 70, and cannot do this work ourselves. The rest of the floor looks like it could go any minute. I'm scared of my husband or myself getting seriously hurt or worse. We have no money, and live SS check to SS check. Please give me some advice
