The constant barrage of TV ads, which claim Charter/Spectrum cable and internet services have no taxes or hidden fees, IS A COMPLETE AND TOTAL LIE!!! THEIR ADS ARE COMPLETELY FRAUDULENT, AND I HAVE NO IDEA HOW THEY GET AWAY WITH IT ???!!!
I just enrolled in the Spectrum tv/internet bundle package, which is SUPPOSED to cost $119/month. Want to know what my actual cost is? $174/month !!! That's right, $55/month higher than the package I supposedly signed up for ! Why? HIDDEN TAXES AND FEES !!! Spectrum is all about hidden taxes and fees!
First of all, there is a $16/month charge for the remote control - $16 a month for the remote! You can't even use their tv service without the remote, so it's not like its optional. So there is ONE hidden fee right there. Then, there is the $17/month charge for the FREE over-the-air TV channels. Let me repeat that, $17/month for FREE TV CHANNELS. Even if Spectrum allegedly has to pay a small fee to broadcast these: These channels are supposed to be included in their TV package. So again, they are charging "extra" for channels, that I am already paying for, when I agreed to the $119 TV package. So there's TWO hidden fees. And, they charge $5/month for Wi-Fi Internet service. What internet services ISN'T Wi-Fi these days? Yet, Spectrum charges an additional $5 for the "privilege" of Wi-Fi Internet (as opposed to what, dial-up?). So there is THREE hidden charges.
As if all that wasn't bad and deceptive enough, they also tack on even more money to each month's bill for (get ready for it) ...TAXES AND FEES !!!!!!!!!!!! That's right, the very thing they CLAIM in their TV ads that they DON'T CHARGE FOR, appear on my monthly bill every single month !!! What liars !!!!!!!!! I honestly don't know how they get away with this ??? The only reason I didn't cancel, is the apartment complex I just moved into, doesn't allow satellite dishes. So I'm stuck with them for one year, anyway.
Still, I used to think there were truth in advertising laws in this country. Apparently not. Spectrum's ads are just one lie after another, yet somehow they get away with it.

If these fees were "hidden”, how did you find them to talk about them here? You are required taxes and fees for ANY cable TV service. Your question to them BEFORE you agreed should have been "What is my monthly total going to be?” Everything is listed on the bill as you stated. Therefore nothing was/is hidden! Learn to be a smart consumer.
