Spagnolo design Karolyn Spagnolo Spag design Design with Spagnolo Caroline Spagnolo Hired to redesign kitchen. Took $900 from $1200 Mandated retainer after only Measuring kitchen and nothing more. Poor communication. Pittsburgh Pennsylvania
Excited because her designs looked amazing on here!! She was local so we hired her. She was very personable. Talked for over an hour at my house. Got along great. But That’s where the positive ends. Hired her to redesign my kitchen completely . Gave $1200 retainer fee per contract. We talked about what designs but nothing nailed down.
She measured Kitchen then had contractor come out and measure which led to her structural engineer coming out (she stated it was standard procedure).
Kitchen was cleared by engineer.
Let’s proceed!
No design given. No contact. A month passed and I called. “Working on it. Let’s get together” she said. Another month went by no contact. This went on for months. I received my First bill in mail for a whopping $900. Huh?! She didn’t do anything but measure. Of course she charges for drive time and hourly once there but all she did was come out to measure once that she never showed me. She stated she had to taken them home and put on paper to map out room. So I was charged hours for her to figure out measurements and her assistant to draw it out to the tune of almost a thousand dollars. Yowzers. Anyone smell a Scam ?!?
I asked how it took hours to write down measurements, why I had no sketches or visions from her in tangible form to prove it was even done, to which she replied “would you like the measurements and my ideas?” Yes.
“Ok I’ll call next week and we’ll get together”
No call. So I called days later. Left message.
Sent emails. That was main form of contact from her.
She replied “we can meet up but I assure you this charge is very standard” I asked 5 times to see something tangible and get an idea of where the $900 charge came from when she’d only been to the house to measure and chat. I hadn’t even received a definitive plan for my kitchen!! She continued to promise to send it “just trust me”.....6 months later, no design laid out, and no proof of where the $900 charge came in-we fired karolyn Spagnolo. VERY FRUSTRATING. (When I told her we were firing her she said “i can take the charge off for my intern if you want”... yes I would, And I’d like the measurements that I’m paying $600 for (less $300 intern charge)
She took intern charges off but still no measurements sent and we just received our letter From her affirming that she was fired from the job.—BEWARE. SCAM ARTIST.
