July 1 my mother (83 years of age) got her hearing aids from the Sound Work Hearing Center in Granbury, Tx.  Her portion of payment was $2,992.00.  At the time of purchase, I did not know my mother had purchased them until I seen them the following weekend.  Terms, could be returned in 30 days.

Late July, 1st of August, my mother took a very hard fall in the shower.  She was hospitalized for a week, then moved to rehab center for a week and half, then to hospice for two weeks in a nursing home, then her final week was in my home under hospice care.  She passed Sept 24,2021.  The following weekend we had her services, then we started setting up for the estate sale.  This is when I found my mother's hearing aids, still in the box, with charger, never been used.

I called Sound Works for about two weeks, about every other day and left voice mail for them to call me back.  It wasn't until I got an EOB from my mother's insurance that they were not going to cover the $11,802 claim for the hearing aids due to lack of information.  I contacted Sounds Works with a more threating message to call me back so we can make sure they get their funding.  I finally got a call.  I sent her the EOB's. so she could re-file.  She was going to let another lady know to call me about returning the hearing aids for a refund.  Weekly, I called and left voice mails.  After another month, I finally get a call back.

I explain to them what happen to my mother and requested a refund.  They told me no, because I didn't place the claim within 30 days.  I frantically explained that I had to attend to my mother's health when the 30 days was coming up, which eventually turned into her death.  She asked the owners and they still said no.

So I asked her, you are telling me that Sound Works thinks I should have searched my mothers home for anything, not just documents on the hearing aids, that was coming up that would run out of warranty or return dates and NOT ATTEND TO MY MOTHER!  She said, "yes, if you were wanting a refund."  I asked, even with the situation my mother and I were in, you would not re-consider?  She said no.

So, before you purchase these high dollar hearing aids, check the health of the person who is getting them.  If there is any chance that something may happen to them, make sure you get them hearing aids back to them immediately and forget about caring for your loved one!  Their customer service is piss poor and rather you leave you ill loved one alone and search and tend to their 30 day policy.

What has happened to customer service!

Not Late At All !

I'm not late at all, I just care more about my mother than trying to dig up paperwork to return a $3K product she won't be using.

When all the dust settle from everything happening, that's when I start sorting things out.

At least you have made clear what your mother means to you.

You said she got the hearing aids July 1st and had the accident on August 1st.  So you were already past the return window when she was injured.  It's now December.  Yeah, it sounds like an unfortunate situation, but you are a wee bit late with trying to return the hearing aids.  I certainly can't see a company wanting to take a hit on $12k, especially for someone who is not even the actual customer.
