In December 2022 Sony for the second time replaced my OLED TV the both TVs had issues with the display panel when I took possession of my latest TV in December 2022 for about a month and a half to two months the TV works fine. Then I started having problems with it connecting to streaming not recognizing my HDR Blu-ray player and the HDR itself not performing the way it should. The pictures looked washed out. The blacks did not look like blacks. You had magenta colors mixed in the colors didn't look uniformed. So before I called Sony, I bought a new HDMI cable that didn't work I borrowed the same HDR disc to see if it was an issue with the disk itself. And then I swapped out HDR players with a higher end more expensive HDR player none of that corrected the problem. So I called Sony and they tried to walk me through changing some settings. They even went as far as to take control of the TV and none of these attempts to fix the TV worked. So they said the engineering department would contact me in 3 to 5 business days. Two weeks goes by and nobody from Sony contacted me so I started calling I had to call multiple times in about a weeks. To get somebody from the engineering apartment to respond. To say this person was rude and condescending would be an understatement. He had an answer for everything. He was one of these people that wouldn't let you get a word in edgewise was talking over top of you, and his conclusion of what was wrong with the TV was that the TV produces a brighter picture? Therefore, blacks wouldn't look as black as they should, and he had no answer for the streaming issue. I was having so he told me to adjust the brightness and to go onto my HDR player and change some of the settings. I did that it didn't change anything. But what he fails to realize is that what he was telling me about the picture being brighter one aspect that correct you need as bright a picture as you possibly can get so HDR is being used at its fullest potential but it's not gonna wash the picture out. So I read a couple articles on how HDR works and what the benefits are the benefits are to make the most realistic picture the TV possibly can produce life like it's supposed to meet white look brighter and blacks look darker that's completely the opposite of what he said. I called Sony again spoke to their complaint department, and they assured me that engineering would get back to me they didn't, but that department got back to me and told me that the TV is working as it's intended to work. So let me get this straight. I should have to unplug the television multiple times a week to get the streaming part of the TV to work correctly to reset it I should look at a scene it's supposed to be pitch black and it looks gray and washed out and tons of digital artifact. That's what the picture is supposed to look like and why I know the HDR part isn't working is because you can take a standard 1080 P Blu-ray disc put it in and it works perfect picture looks as the way it was intended to look. Sony is a very hard company to deal with. I had not bought a Sony television in almost 2 decades because I had one that almost caught on fire and they fought me for months to replace that Tv a service man from Best Buy came out and looked at it and said you're lucky your house did not catch on fire and also he knew somebody at Sony who contacted me. I sent him pictures of that particular unit and he automatically set it up for replacement, but it took somebody from Best Buy who knew somebody at Sony to get this done.

In today's world, once a company has your money the majority of the time customer service goes right out the window and they don't care if your product works or not because they have your money so I tried to write a letter to the Better Business Bureau but what I found out about the Better Business Bureau is that in each state they handle things differently new York, where Sony's headquarters is at Will not do anything they will not even send a complaint to Sony in Florida and California where I have filed complaints against companies they work totally different. They will send your complaint with no guarantees of a resolution, but at least they will send it not New York, so I tried to consumer affairs they have changed our platform. It's almost impossible to send a complaint to them. The attorney generals office won't do anything so it's become very hard for consumers to find a state or government agency to help them. In this day and time when money is very hard to come by and you spend $2000 on a TV and it performs away my TVs is performing that's unacceptable. It seems like government agencies are siding more with the big businesses and companies and the consumer is getting left out in the cold and has to deal with their defective product to make quality control no longer exist and most everything we buy is disposable you use it for a few years. It goes bad to throw it awa, that's how they make their money so I just need some help

Not how HDR works

HDR does the opposite of what you described, It reduces the contrast in order to allow a wider range of detail to be represented. If you view non-HDR content in HDR mode, it will look washed out. It sounds like whatever you are viewing on it is not actually HDR. It is not possible for a TV to somehow work in the normal mode but not in HDR mode since that feature is related to the input signal processing, not the actual panel. You will get the brightest possible whites and darkest blacks with regular content, you just won't have as much detail in the highlights and shadows.
