I know for most 2004 Dodges they were priced around 16,000-18,000 depending on the type. The truck I bought was a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 Quad Cab with $5,000 in tires, a custom paint job, custom front end, custom exhaust, fully loaded and had only 40,000 miles, which and 04 should average about 60,000-70,000 miles. It had a clean car fax report and all maintenance noted. It only had one previous owner and they took very good care of it. It is wasn't for getting 14 mpg it would be a sweet a*s truck! I really appreciate your feedback. Believe me I won't be as dumb next time.

I don't know if an 04' Dodge Ram 1500 is worth $18,600. Your library should have NADA (orange book) used car guides where you could check. I believe a new vehicle is always a better buy than a used vehicle because you can get the "exact same" vehicle at any franchised dealer. This allows you to get competing bids. And I always think that if someone trades their old vehicle at a different vehicle brand dealer, they wern't so happy with their old vehicle. Consumer Reports explains the DO's & DON'Ts of auto buying in their April issue... you might want to read CR's take on car buying so that you are happier the next time. Car dealer aggravation can shorten your life.

Also, they like to play little games and if your unaware of them you will get screwed too. All I wanted to do is test drive the d**n truck but oh no I couldn't do that because they had another individual who was coming at the same moment with a check in his had for that same exact truck. What pisses me off is that I was soo gullible and allowed this to happen. They even went as far as having someone call impersonating the individual you was coming and asked the rep who I was dealing with if the truck was still available. I tell you what this was one hell of an expensive lesson!
