on July 16, 2019 i purchased a ONE YEAR home warranty with Select Home Warranty with an "End Date - Aug 14. 2020". my contract was for one year with a single payment in the amount of $379 plus $75 service fee call. however, my credit card was charged $1720.00!!! i was not aware of the overcharge until 11/5/2020. once i found out, i contacted Select HW immediately and requested a refund for the 4 years unauthorized payment they made on my credit card.
They insisted that i upgraded my contract to a 5 year warranty which was totally bogus; they have no prove of my upgrade except what is in THEIR file. But i am holding the contract they sent me when i purchased the policy clearly stated "contract term - one year". they refused to give me the full refund for the 4 years because i did not notify them to cancel the policy after one year. WHY WOULD I NEED TO CANCEL SOMETHING I DID NOT PURCHASE!!
DON'T believe their all 5-star reviews online. this is a VERY SHADY operation! once they have your credit card info, watch out!! be very vigilant as they are unethical in their dealings.

United StatesSelect Home Warranty is - without doubt - one of the biggest home warranty rip offs in the USA. I believe every word the author wrote about them charging for 5 years, when the person only signed up 1.

Select Home Warranty gives a bad name to the Home Warranty Business. I have had my own negative experience with this fraud of a company - losing about $ 80 in cancellation fees and them not fixing a covered repair.
I read, with interest, the report and evidence the author from Fresno, CA said about Select Home Warranty. I believe every word of the report. This corrupt company is all about the money. They had no business - except their own greed, to charge this person for a 5 year contract when he only signed up for 1 year.
I urge this person to immediately dispute this charge with the credit card company.
I tried to dispute a charge because they would not fix a covered repair. Also, I was never given the 30 day grace to cancel - another lie this company told me.
This company will ruthlessly defend their position - of lies and deceit. I have glanced over the 144 rip off report on Select Home Warranty. Most of them have to do with this company refusing to fix covered items - even after their own technicians said the appliance needed to be fixed or replaced.
Their sales man - for me it was Mark Johnson - will do and say anything to get the person (or shall I say victim) to sign up for a contract. Then, after they get the money, the customer is DEAD to them.
Home Warranty Companies have changed, for the worse, over the years. It used to be they did fix covered items. Now, they look for any excuse - legal or illegal.
Government Agencies, like the Better Business Bureau - do not give a rat's tail and cannot help get the money back. Select Home Warranty lies again and again to keep their money - or shall I say YOUR MONEY.
Stay away from them.
