Received an advertisement for a "free" knife (pay only for shipping and handling). Did not see or notice any information that stated I would be automatically enrolled in a monthly subscription for $57 per month. I never received anything in the mail, email correspondence or notification that I was subscribed or of what goods or services I was not entitled to receive.
As I routinely pay my credit card bills when they arrive, I did not notice for more than six months that I was being charged $57 per month. When I finally did notice, I called the company and was told the "subscription" was automatic when I received the knife (which by the way was a piece of junk). I informed them I wanted to cancel and wanted a refund. They advised me that they only refunded two months, per company policy.
After not receiving the refund after a few weeks, I called again and was told the refund was delayed due to my filing a complaint with my credit card company. I called again, after the credit card company reinstated all the charges back to my account and was now told that they could not provide a refund since the charges had been disputed. When I explained that that was not what I was told on the previous call, I was basically told I was wrong.
