My partner and I have a few companies and we'd hired Kayla to complete the accounting work and tax returns for our businesses. I got the sense that she was struggling to keep the records organized and wasn't really sure what she was doing...
We were coming up on our filing deadlines and I was reaching out to her for an update. But, it turns out that she abandoned her job and abandoned our year end. Without notice and without handing off her work to another accountant. She just dissapeared without telling anyone! I'm irate by her lack of professionalism.
Our filings end up getting submitted late and we had to pay penalties.
Our new accountant in the same office is amazing and I'm grateful that we're in competent hands now.

Thank you for taking the time to leave me a review. I stand behind my work and cover any penalties and interest from my mistakes. If I can recall correctly, the final return was already past the filing deadline when you engaged Pinnacle Accounting and Finance Ltd. to complete this work for you, and we were waiting on you to provide some additional information so the return could be completed and filed with the CRA. I apologize if there was miscommunication regarding this.
Have you considered reaching out to Pinnacle Accounting and Finance Ltd. directly about the +$2,200 (approximate) increase in your invoice after I no longer worked there? I am sure they will be able to get this sorted for you as soon as possible.

I am trying to investigate the matter further, but I can’t recall you as a client, or a scenario like you described, where I missed a filing. Could you please reach out to Pinnacle Accounting and Finance Ltd. directly? I am incredibly sorry to hear about your poor experience with them after I no longer worked there.

Oh! I’m so glad that you posted your experience here! I had an almost identical problem with Kayla. We had hired her to handle a final tax return for us. Not only did she way overcharge us (more than $3k), but, she didn’t actually submit the tax filing! I’m still waiting to hear what the late filing penalties will be, but we’re expecting them to be over $7k. I’m going to be filing a complaint to CPA over the problem. With regards to her job abandonment issue, I’ve learned that she refused to work out her last days of the job and complete her files.
She wanted to move over to Truenorth accounting and didn’t want to work out her notice period before hand. I was told that she even claimed mental health issues as an excuse to move over to her new job as quickly as possible. She probably had to quit because of these client problems that she was having. I feel for her new clients that aren’t aware of these issues. She’s just going to continue to create a mess for other unsuspecting businesses.
