We have been dealing with this "company" for over three years. The short story;

We bought furniture and did a Zero interest / zero payment finance. Paid it off in full before the term was up. A few months later received a letter saying we better pay them or we will be sent to collections! I was receiving calls weekly demanding payment. Each caller promised to clear up the mistake as they would confirm my story of payment over the phone after going back into the system and seeing that there was a payment received in full. The automated system even confirms payment. Then we would get a letter 60 days later restating that we owe them the money--- no explaination as to why they did not clear it up as promised but instead decided we owed the money. 2 outside collections agencies have sent the file back to HRS after they find out what they are doing to us.

After several calls, letters, and conversations I finally was told that they never received payment!

We went through several months of sending (snail mail and faxing) them the copy of the cashed check, only to be told each time that they never received our documentation. After sending it certified mail the story changed to that, OK they did receive payment but the check bounced! So then we went through the games sending and resending them the bank statement showing more than enough money in the account before the payoff, the check being cashed, and more than enough in the account after they cashed it!

This story gets more outrageous but the bottom line is we have had it! We are looking for a d**n good attorney that is interested in going after these bastards! We have more than enough to prove damages. All documentation. Not only has our otherwise EXCELLANT credit been seriously affected by this, we recently went through a very serious ordeal in trying to close on a house where 4 days before closing we were informed that the underwriter was demanding the account be paid. We went through two weeks of providing proof of the wrongful hit (and then some on our credit)but the type of loan we were applying for would not allow this type of outstanding debt so they (HRS) either had to release the debt (gee, do you think HRS did it?), we had to pay it, or get a new loan! Luckily the sellers were patient as we had to start the loan process all over again 2 weeks past closing. 3 weeks past the stated closing date, we went to closing with an interest rate of 9 1/2 percent, $2000 more in closing costs, and a steep prepayment fee of 6%.

This in the time when interest rates are at a 40 year low, slighly below 6%!

We had the choice of being raked over the coals or walk away and lose far more money.

The things they have done to us... the stress, tears.

It is so far beyond an honest mistake.

This is not a company that should be allowed to do business.

Grace
