Helzberg Diamonds in Crystal Lake sent my wife and I a card offering a free pair of earrings if picked up prior to 02/14/16. We have gotten these offers before and while getting the free merchandise always made an additional purchase while at the store. Upon arrival on 02/13/16, we and another person entered the store carrying the cards that we had received with their offer. A snotty woman informed us that they didn't have any of those earrings and weren't going to get any either. I said I drove a long way to get them and she didn't give a hoot one way or the other. She did, however, want us to look at something else that she could sell us. I said no thanks and that we'd go elsewhere from then on.
This was quite obviously bait and switch. We have done a lot of business there in the past but certainly won't make that mistake again. It's my suggestion to anyone intending to buy jewelry NOT to go to the Crystal Lake Helzberg location. It's one thing to advertise and get people "in the door" but this was to us false advertising and to be met with this insulting woman was beyond toleration. We've never had a problem there before but I can assure all those who read this that their promises are false as are their advertising practices. I would give them a definite "F" for customer service.
