Complaint Review: Fleet bank - boston Massachusetts

In Feb 1997 I had opened an account with you people $500.00 with an ATM card I had never used the card or the acct until the day I with drew the money the whole $500. after a fire in a bldg I was living in I had not seen or used the card later in the year November, bank statements from fleet were being mailed to my mothers home so many my mother becamed concerned and called me after opening one of the envolopes I seen that someone had in fact was using the card fraudulently making very large deposits. I contacted fleet and reported this incedent and let them know that was not using this card and even then I had no idea that any money had been withdrawn from the acct. because there was no money in the acct. at this time the woman on the phone tells me that the machine would allow the person 100 dlrs on each deposit also informing me that the deposits were false so I said well what shall I do she asked would I like to close the account I said OF COURSE so I asked would I have to pay for this she said no we will investigate this and get a line on who it was etc etc so I was relieved. I never heard from fleet again. Now in 2001 march I believe I get a call from my bank telling me that I have to remove my money from the bank some orginization called NCPA told them not to let me have an acct no explanation or nothing I had to remove $1500 and no way to access my direct deposit because my card was swallowed by a machine when I know I had money in the bank (embarassing!) so now after 3 or 4 mos I finally get someone from the ncpa and they tell me FLEET told them to do this. so I contact FLEET they tell me that I owe them $550 from 1997 I explain to them what had happened and no one ever got back to me so I figured it was settled and now they tell me because I never gotten a police report I have to be charged no one ever told me to get a police report other wise I would have gotten one. So after the last 9 mos every person I try to contact at FLEET is always telling me to contact another person who passes me on to the next number or person or fax until now I have come full circle back to square 1 at the 1-800 no.'s everyone I contact has no record of the debt I fax papers to no's no one gets back to me, they give me no's and names of people who or that don't exsist so in the meantime I am stuffing money in socks, shoes, mattresses etc I've been trying to get this settled and after 6 or 7 yrs and several thousand dollars in other banks later what am I supposed to do about getting this resolved? I really hope I get the attention of some FLEET executive because I am tired of not having any where to put my money. I've always saved money,in a bank I never applied for a credit card I always saved for what I wanted to buy I dont write checks I buy cashiers checks or money orders. I did not steal from FLEET I am not a con artist I do not appreciate being treated like one I need someone to conact me at my job between 8am 4:30pm at 617-662-3066 so I can have this lifted from the NCPA I would like to try to prove this isn't my debt and after all these years you have a nerve to post a RIP-OFF board well I feel that you are ripping me off for my right to use what is called a BANK!!
