I received a "pre-approved" credit card notice by mail for Premier Bankcard. I went online to accept the offer, and after entering my information online including the "code" on the mailer I was directed to a payment application. I was asked to pay a fee of $95.00 and was led to believe this was a non-refundable 25$ application and processing fee including a 75$ annual fee. I was also led to believe that as soon as the payment posted, I would then speed up the process to have an entire credit available balance of 300$ (the entire credit line). I was even encouraged to use my checking accounts debit card to make the posting of my payment "like cash" being paid. I completed the transaction and waited for my new card. After receiving my new card, I was directed inside the mailer to go to their website and create my online banking ID and password and log in. I did so and low and behold I checked my balance and the realtime balance said I still owed 75$! A mistake I thought. I then sought out their customer service number on the back of the card. To no avail, all I got was automated servicing which was literally impossible to get through. There was no option to speak with a representative. I then called the number off their website under "contact us". I finally get to a foreign call center where the representative barely speaks English. I am told that although I paid the 95$, I still owed an additional 75$ for the new year's fee. I accepted the card offer in December. I then paid that fee. The interest on this card is %39.  I go to use this card for the first time (has a chip) and I cannot use it. It says I need to enter a "pin" at checkout. After a very embarrassing discussion with the checker about how this is not a debitcard, I had to pay with my checking account. I call the automated system in the store and am offered to set up an "optional" pin number for "extra protection to use with my chip". I thought pin numbers were if you wanted cash advance...that's how my other CC's work. The automated system won't let me set up a pin. The website won't let me set up a pin. I go to buy a pair of middle cost shoes at a new shoe store's grand opening. After 6 tries all different kind of ways swiping, entering fake pin, putting in chip reader, cancelling when asks for pin, finally I learn the trick - hit the green enter key when prompted for a pin. Of course, there was an equally embarrassing discussion between my self and 3 clerks about how it's probobly not a CC and it's a DC and I probably just don't understand the difference. :(   I make my first payment due on the card using my debit card again due to that's what the website recommends. I then make an additional $100 payment to keep my balance open in an emergency. By the next Monday, there are still no funds available. I email the bank through there in app contact feature asking when my funds will be available. My response that afternoon was "we can hold funds up to 20 days at our discretion per your cardholder agreement". Seriously????? The funds cleared my checking account and you show it posted on your end and your not giving me any available credit - not even 1$.  STAY AWAY FROM THIS CARD COMPANY AT ALL COSTS...JUST SAY NO!!! WHEN YOU GET THEIR MAILER. TEAR UP THE POSTCARD OFFERING A GREAT DEAL. To date, this is still not resolved. If you wish to have a credit card, please go with Capital One or Credit One. They both treat you like you are a customer and not a criminal.

I have a Capital One Silver Credit Card with a 500$ Credit Line which increased by 200$ after only 5 months of on time payments. I don't always max it out nor just only use 20$. I use as needed. The largest purchase I put on it was for a new computer tower for 388$. I do not pay a yearly fee nor did I have to pay for the card itself or a processing fee. I love the card. I also have a Credit One Credit Card with a 300$ Credit Line. They did not offer an increase nor did I ask for one. It also has hidden fees, but none that I can say were truly unexpected; for example, I ended up paying 6.95$ for a decorative card. When I chose that particular card design I was unaware there was a fee for doing so. The card does have a yearly fee around 40$. The interest rate is higher that my Capital One card but not exorbinately so. I have had no customer service issues and their call centers seem to be in the U.S. I have had both cards for about 8 months. I have never been late on the Capital One card and late once by 12 hours on the Credit One card due to literally forgetting it was due on a Thursday and not a Friday. Completely my fault. My credit score is low and that's what I have been rebuilding (585). Capital One offeres me a free credit manager app to check this regularly. This is not due to not handling credit cards, but due to not being able to pay off tons of medical. I accepted the Premier Card w/o reading all the complaints about them on this website (yes...my bad isn't it?). And, I have only had the card for 2 months. I did not "max it out" nor did I make a payment for "more than the card was due". I do understand basic credit. I owed about 250$ on a 300$ card which I used to make an electric payment due to our monthly electric here in Montana runs between 450$ and 790$ per month in the winter. I made the minimum payment and then on my payday made a 100$ payment. The payment posted in my checking and states it's posted to my credit card and states I have funds available just not "released". My capital One card I did the same thing with and before the funds posted to my checking account, my credit line is available. The Credit One card has a set number of days as to when a payment releases a credit and I believe w/o double checking it is 4 business days. I check my online CC sites every other day and noticed that I had "zero" available credit. Only when I emailed Premier bank did I get the response that they can keep the credit line held up for 20 days after payment. I accepted this card offer simply to help build up my credit. I had such a great experience with the other 2 cards, that I did not expect too much difference. I also think it is unfair of you to judge me as "unable to handle" credit. I had several credit cards in the past with large credit lines which I cut up and destroyed and closed the accounts in order to get out of debt in ALL areas many years ago (about 10). It was recommended to me by a friend that it's the best way to get debt free. However, all that does is leave you w/o a way to rent cars and hotel rooms and leaves you with not being able to get credit in future. I will!  pay the Premier Card off fully, and then let it sit in my wallet in case of an emergency for a car repair etc and simply pay it in full when due. Or maybe not. Maybe I will destroy the card and never use it again. Either way, this was meant to be a warning or a buyer beware for those looking at credit opportunities. Go with Capiton One or Credit One etc. Stay away from Premier.

This card is a card for Sub-Prime borrowers, that is people who have failed to prove they can handle credit.  So it is very unlikely you have other credit cards(in good standing) as people with good or even fair credit do not willingly agree to pay around $180 in fees, plus a monthly fee, plus an almost 40% interest rate just to get a $300 credit line.  And every one of these things were disclosed to you when you got the card.

As for them holding your payments, that again is in the terms of the card but it is probably a bit more burried.  However, that really should not matter as you should not be maxing out your credit card every month.  So if they hold a payment you should still have credit available.

You weren't that clear but if you paid more than your balance giving you a credit balance, that is a big flag to them and to prevent fraud will hold payments for longer.
