Just recently I found out that my seven year old cat has fibrosarcomas, a cancer that is caused by injecting vaccines into the neck and shoulder area of animals. The problem I have is that no one ever told me (the whole time that I have been taking my cat to the Vet) that this could occur. Now I have to spend about $5000.00 on my cat to remove the cancer and have radiation, chemo, and other surgeries to help her live for a few more years comfortably. This type of cancer can not be cured, and even with the sugeries and radiation, the tumor will come back. So I'm actually spending this money for nothing. But I have to do all I can for my cat, I love her and want to help her out in anyway possible. The only thing is that I think that pet owners should be told about this deadly situation, so the pet owner can make the decision to take that risk. Now, I have to spend alot of money (that I do not have) to help my cat. The sad thing about it is that she's still going to die with this cancer, and I've got to loose my best friend, only because no one bothered to tell me. This can't be right!!!!

Not true.Fibrosarcomas are not simply caused by a vaccination in the neck and shoulders.It is far more complicated involving what are called adjuvants,and there may be other genetic predisposing causes.They are relatively rare and if identified early can be cured though they have fingerlike projections which make removal with surgery more difficult so radiation may be helpful to reduce the mass first.

I'm really sorry about your cat...but just wanted to say that over the years, I've had many cats/dogs, and have taken them all at one time or the other to the vet. None of them have EVER gotten an injection anywhere other than in the hip. I just find it very strange that your vet gave your cat it's vaccinations, in the neck/shoulder.
