I have an online store with Etsy. After nine months of working 12-hour days, 6 days a week to build my store, Etsy banned me for no reason. On March 16th I made my first sell after being open for 5 months. On March 17th Etsy shutdown my store and permanently banned me from using their website, for buying or selling. I, obviously upset, asked Etsy why they did this, and they said I violated one of four policies. Which by the way was an email that is a standard email that goes out to everyone they do this too. Etsy never gave any specific policy I violated, because I didn’t violate anything.

I filed an appeal and an automatic-reply message came back saying I was banned and We’re unable to reconsider this decision and can no longer respond to further messages about your account status. We appreciate the time you’ve invested on Etsy and wish you success in your future endeavors.”They never read or even considered my appeal because I got this email literally minutes after submitting my appeal. There is no way they could research, evaluate, and come to a decision in 2 minutes. I got no warning, Etsy never inquired about my products, Etsy gave no reason or explanation for taking my money for 10 months then shutting me down. Etsy says they will send you a warning email if items are questionable or simply deactivate that questionable item. That NEVER happened with me. One day I had a store, 24 hours later, I did not. Just like that! No warning, no deactivated items, no explanation, no policy strike, and now no more contact. Etsy said they will no longer speak to me regarding this situation. Basically, they took my money and dismissed me. All I want is my store back because I didn't do anything wrong.

It sure sounds to me like you know exactly why you were banned.  What exactly were you selling? And why do they have to reimburse you for the services you received before you were banned? Oh, and reading their policy on prohibited items says they have a zero tolerance policy and your account is subject to immediate termination. I suspect they might give you a warning if you are a long established seller and have previously compiled with their policies, but if your first item you sold clearly violates policy I understand why they would immediately ban you.
