I am writing you today as a concerned citizen, family man, and ethical businessman in hopes you will look into this matter that I have expressed in detail below:

On October 20 I visited Van Chevrolet in Scottsdale (8585 E Frank Lloyd Wright Blvd, Scottsdale, AZ 85260) We ordered an escalade and have been getting pushed back months at a time. So I decided to go to Vans Chevrolet to see if they had any GMC Yukons in stock with the Denali trim. While perusing their current inventory, I had the opportunity to speak with the sales manager Drew Ardissone who mentioned that the Denalis have no noticeably different features at all and that I might consider buying a Standard Yukon (without the Denali trim) claiming that it’s a much better deal and has everything on it that I was looking for.  Plus due to a national chip shortage for the Denali line, they are extremely difficult to find New and Used at the moment.

I asked him when their dealership would be getting new vehicles in and he said he has one coming in on October 20th and four on the 21st.  Excited with his response, I politely asked him to please call me when those vehicles arrived so I could see them in person and take them out for a test drive.   Drew said (with a chuckle), “Oh no… they will for sure be gone before they even get to the lot. You’ll have to write something up (a contract) today and just hold them for you.”

At this point in our conversation, it was about 7:00 PM.

Slightly frustrated with his response, I asked Drew if I signed a purchase contract that evening whether or not I would be liable to keep the vehicle if I wasn’t satisfied and didn’t want it.  He smugly replied, “No! This is just to secure it and if you don't want it, I will put it right back up for sale and it will sell in an hour!”  Hesitantly, I agreed to proceed forward and asked Drew what the next step would be.  He said, “We will pull my fiancée credit (which was at 7:30 PM) and then sign documents after.

By the time we were done with the credit pull, it was 8:30 PM.

Once approved, Drew (instead of preparing and signing docs at the dealership) said he will have a sales guy named Scott run over to my house and sign all the loan documents that same night. Somewhat shocked by that idea, I told him that my kids were in bed and asked if we could do it the following morning.  He was insistent that it should be done that same night to secure the vehicle. Scott overheard my conversation with Drew and asked if I would prefer to do it in the morning.  I thankfully said that would be better for my family and went home knowing that there was a game plan set for the morning.

When Scott came over to the house, he sat down with my fiancé Kira and reassured her that the papers she would be signing are not binding and if we decided that we don’t want the vehicle, he will just tear up the papers and it will be null-and-void. This was confirmed two times by both Drew and Scott.

Unexpectedly, Kira and I ended up finding the new Cadillac Escalade that we had been seeking out for months which Drew and Scott were well aware of.  Excited at this news, we knew that we had to let Scott know as soon as possible that we needed to cancel our agreement with them.  When Scott called us back, I told him we had found another vehicle and that we wished to exercise our right to cancel our purchase contract (as promised that we could do) and put the Yukon back on the lot to sell.  He then said that he would have Drew call us because what we signed was a “binding contract”.  I was fearful that they were going to try and pull something like this,  but they promised that we would be able to get out of the deal if we wanted. Drew called us about four times and also texted me to call him.

When I was able to call Drew back and express my concern, with a stern and threatening tone he stated, “There were three ways we could have done this, but seeing I don't like your tone of voice there are only two ways now. 1. I can drop off the new Yukon and take “our” vehicle (referring to the Yukon we were going to trade in) or 2. I can come and get our vehicle which you signed over to us when you signed the paperwork.”

This whole exchange upset our entire family so badly that we could not sleep the whole night, fearful of Drew or Scott sending a tow truck or personally coming to our home to take our family vehicle. I have never been so disrespected in my life! The next morning, I personally visited the dealer to confront him and/or speak with another manager. When I got there, I spoke with another Manager named Matt (who actually hired Drew). When I told him the story, he was very taken back and told us, "I can sell that car in an hour and even $10,000 more than what we bought it for, and it's crazy he even called you and said that. Also, you have not even seen the vehicle and it's not in your possession so we could never threaten to do that.” Matt’s tact and professionalism did not go unappreciated.

I wanted to bring this to the attention of the Attorney General regarding the unethical practices that Drew partakes in. He could routinely be using these scare tactics and tricking more people into believing that they actually have to buy the vehicle with promises that a contract can be terminated at any time.  This is not only detrimental to my family and I, but to the Van Chevrolet Dealership as a whole.

I strongly urge you to please investigate Drew Ardissone as I do not want this to continue to happen to innocent families, divorced women, or people already under a lot of stress that cannot think for themself.  Thank you for your time and thoughtful consideration.

Respectfully,
