So the saying goes, "damned if you do, damned if you don't".  I was with Dish Network for many years.  My contract was up early this year, and just decided to cancel service.  There are always "weather" related issues on sunny days, and the costs keep going up.  First of all, I canceled my service via phone (as I think this is the ONLY way to do it), on August 24. 

I wanted it to end on 9/1, which was the last day of billing period.  As of 9/4 it was still active, so I called in again, and was told, "oh I don't see that you called in".  Which is besides the point.  I told her I wanted to cancel, she wanted reasons, I just kept telling her that she's not keeping me as a customer, so just cancel.  She then says that I have to pay $15 to return my equipment or pay $85 (1-DVR, 2-Joeys) if I don't return my equipment.  Also, I have to climb up on my roof to return a part of the satellite dish. 

I also have to pay for a couple of days into my new billing period, which is not what it would be broken down for 30 days.  Total at this point is $35, which it should be $27 (two days of service around $6/day and $15 Equipment return).  Where the other amount is coming from, I am not told and when I ask, the reply is, "that is the amount".  

They cut off my service about 10 minutes later.  They have not updated my bill.  It still shows that I owe for the entire billing period.  How can you charge if you are just leaving JUNK at my house and expect me to pay to remove it?  I cannot find anything in my orginal paperwork that states that not only do I have to climb up on my roof, but that I will have to pay to return equipment and pay more than the daily rate of service for the two days, that I had to stay on because they refused to turn off my service.  

I am just livid that someone thinks this is, "okay" and a normal business practice.
