BUDGET RENT A CAR Budget Rentals Internet Lies Internet
Made a reservation online for a rental car for a family easter weekend trip on the car rental direct website, after I was done and received confirmation via email called the pick up location to verify everything was okay for pick-up of vehicle on day set.
Person confirmed all info and reservation and stated see you next week.
On day of vehicle pick-up got to counter provided ID, Debit Card and Insurance card at that point person at counter asked me if I had a Credit Card. I stated No I want to use my debit card. At that point she stated to me that she would need to run a credit check. I asked What for? And she said to see if you qualify to rent one of our cars.
I told her it said nothing of this online and I was not told over phone when I called her location to verify my reservation that this would need to be done. She said well it will need to be done and that is the only way to rent from us. I told her I did not feel comfortable on giving out my ss# in this manner and having a hit on my credit.
She said then go elsewhere, I told her that we were leaving later that day and that it would be almost impossible finding a car at this point somewhere else with it being Easter Sunday weekend and Spring Break, if there was someone I could talk to maybe a mgr??? She said Nope so just leave I have other things to deal with. Wow I thought are you kidding me that this is the way a national chain treats their customers, This is crazy!!!!
Well, I did leave and did find another car Thank You Enterprize, and we had a blast with our kids in Vegas.
Just feel people should know about this crazy practice of theirs, I don't like giving out my ss# for any reason like that especially since I live in the ID Theft capital of the US (Arizona).
