Sign on Window "ENTIRE STORE ON SALE ! This location only"

2nd Sign on Window "STORE CLOSING  Everything 10% to 30% off "

Stacks of items on table... including several versions of Guitar Hero including guitar; for Wii, Xbox, etc...

Sign on table "Merchandise 30% off"

I select Guitar Hero World Tour complete Guitar game for Wii... take to employee "Sandy" at counter.

Sandy says item does not scan on computer or on discount list... he will call New Hyde Park store to check price... He calls someone on phone... I hear him say and confirm "So  Guitar Hero is not on sale, it is full price? OK"

Sandy tells me that the item is not on sale, it is full price, not even the minimum 10% discount, indicated on the sign on the door.  He takes my credit card and charges it... I sign (marking the slip as under protest of price) and I take my purchase home....

I call the manager "Teresa" who says that the Guitar Hero is not "Merchandise", it is "Electronics" and although items may have been incorrectly placed on that table, there was no discount available of thes items.  She further states that they had already discounted all the games so whatever price was marked on the box was the discounted price.

(New York City Dept of Consumer Affairs Title 6 Section 5-91 states "If an advertiser uses the words: "percent off"... "If the term "originally" or any similiar term, is used... the price immediately prior to the current reduction must be disclosed, unless intermediate reductions are clearly indicated by the language used.)

Teresa made it quite clear that I was free to file a complaint with the NYC Department of Consumer Affairs if I so chose, but also said I might want to get it in quickly, since the store would be closed soon anyway.... ( Good luck to me trying to get any response before they were gone with the wind...)

Left a message for the regional person "Maria", she never even bothered to call back.

EVERYTHING does NOT mean everything, and Blockbuster Store # 36947 will take every cent and dollar they can squeeze out of anybody that is trusting enough to be lured by the deceptive signage and the unyielding employees.

It Was A Rip Off

Went to the BB on Fredericksburg Rd that was going out of business. They had their DVD's priced at $14.99 less 40% = $8.99 sign on the racks. The DVD's had a $9.99 "sale" price on each one. The old mark it up to mark it down BS. The funny part was the BB at 1604 and Bandera Rd that isn't going out of business had the same DVD's AT 50% OFF the $9.99 price sale price, for $5. The USUAL going out of business scam. I've been in business for 28 years and have yet to see any "deals" at stores going out of business. It's a license to steal and rip people off cause they can't come back and complain and "all sales are final".

Here's how these things work.  You signed a slip agreeing to pay the price that was on the slip.  That's the whole reason for signing.   Adding additional remarks makes no difference, you dolt.  By signing, you are agreeing to the price.

If you did not not want to pay that price, why in God's name would you hand over a credit card, then sign a charge slip with that price on it?    Your argument is totally lacking in credibility.

I challenge you to call up your credit card company and attempt to dispute this charge.   If you tell them exactly what you said here, all you'll hear is laughter just before the line goes dead.

So lets get this straight were is the rip off here, you brought the product to the cashier, she made a phone call to another store, then the cashier told you the price would not be discounted, and yet you still bought it!!!!!!!!!!! You where told the price of the product and you paid for it, you had a choice to put the game back on the shelf and not by it, but you still went ahead and bought it, were is thew scam or the rip off. I dont care what the sign said on the door at all, you were told the price and you signed your receipt in "protest"  and paid for it you are the idiot.
