Pageant titles are divided into Miss, Mrs., Mister, and Teen, as well as international, regional, and national—to clearly identify the differences among these categories. Similar events for male pageants are usually called by other names, some are likely to be bodybuilding competitions.

Dindo Reyes filed Miss Asia-USA, Inc as an Articles of Incorporation in the State of California. This corporate entity was filed on Friday, June 17, 1988 as recorded in documents filed with California Secretary of State. Several years later, Dindo Reyes transferred the ownership to Virgelia Villegas. The first winner of Miss Asia-USA is Aline Pham.
