Bally's Total Fitness ripoff Won't let a person cancel and self cancel auto pay San Jose California
I signed up for Bally's and was told as were most people that is was a voidable contract. It turns out it wasn't and I just let the account continue to withdraw as it had been automatically. About 18 months into the contract, I had gone to the gym mainly during the first month of contract, and had moved too far from the gyms for it to be convinient to go, but not far enough for them to allow me to cancel. I was still paying, but then the auto withdrawal suddenly stopped.
I assumed that they had realized I hadn't gone in 9+ months and had cancelled the membership themselves. This wasn't the case. They had simply taken me off auto pay for no reason, and then neglected to tell me anything about this until I was sent to collections 6 months later. I am on too tight of a budget to pay for something I have to spend more in gas on to get to, and the fact that it was taken off auto pay had nothing to with me. I still do not know why I was taken off the auto pay, and simply want to have the account closed, as it has not been used.
