We ordered a food trailer from Andrew Rodriguez of Arete Food Trailers.
Aside from lack of customer service skills throughout the order process, the delivery was also delayed by almost a full month.
When it was finally ready for pickup (7/9/19), Mr. Rodriguez gave us an address to pick it up at a storage facility in Long Beach. (A facility that stores freight from other countries) We found that to be rather odd, since from the beginning we were told that Mr. Rodriguez's facility was local (Rancho Cucamonga) and that he was the customizer.
It turns out that he is just a random guy who orders these trailers from China. He had never even SEEN or TOUCHED the item. We took it out of the big wooden crate and assembled it ourselves. The moment we opened the crate we saw damages to the outside shell of the trailer, as well as numerous defects to the inside of the trailer. The roof is moldy, the door is bent and the trailer is inoperable.
We were told by the facility that since we signed for the crate, we now were responsible for removing it from their facility. So we took it to a storage unit to keep it safe and then reported the issues to Mr. Rodriguez.
He offered us a refund and then changed his mind and says we aren't entitled to a refund as the damages are not his fault. It is now 8/1/19 and Arete Food Trailers still refuses to give us a refund. We are still paying to store his item and he still has our money for an item that is totally defected and unusable.
This morning I was told by the freight insurance surveyor that not only does Mr. Rodriguez have our money, but he will also be paid out in full by his insurance company for the "total loss".
This is fraud.

This is Rob & Andrew, Partners in the Arete business, making a statement of rebutal defending the Arete name as a charitable business that helps many people in need & helps many prospecting entreprenuers.

We have been in the food trailer industry for over 7 years, distributing wordwide to help the dreams of many food & retail entrprenuers with the main goal of being a social enterprise donating portions of each order to the kiva.org charity.
We offer a 1-2 year limited warranty on all appliances & 2 year limited warranty on all trailer builds. If your trailer is damaged or faulty, we will cover the cost of repair, & always ship insured for your security.
Our only complaint comes from "Lemonade girl" who is a past potential client who has refused to pay for a food trailer we custom made for her in an attempt to take advantage of the custom nature of the trailer.
The fact of the matter is, "Lemonade girl" refused to accept our re-painting of the blemishes that our shipping company has agreed to take accountablity & pay for.
This is 1 case out of hundreds of positive reviews in an attempt to slander our business name.
This client has made threats & false accusations against our business in an effort to extort us to pay for all their storage expenses & personal fees.
We stand by the Arete name as an ethical business with charity contributions. We will not accept this blantant lie to slander a charitable business with honest hard working people who have families!!
We have many hard working people here at Arete & believe strongly in doing what is right, which is why we donate custom food trailers to various non-profit organizations annually.
To slander our name is to slander a charitable business that helps many low-mid income families start their own dream of a vending business on a budget; similar custom operations in the US cost upwards of $100,000 whereas we have simplified the model to start an affordable business for less than $10,000.
If we are known for anything it is this empowering business model; "Be Your Own Boss" is one of our motto's and we believe in empowering everyone so that they can do just that with our quality builds.
*It should be Noted that the person making these claims against Arete has NOT paid for any trailer or cart & is attempting to slander & extort our business for personal expenses.
