Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
Yesterday (3/20/02), I sent the following email to worldcom wireless - before finding this web site. I thought they were just stupid and incompetent - now I see that their stupidity and incompetence is raging and wide-spread - and possibly intentional.

To Whom It May Concern,

On January 2, 2002, I received a FAX at my place of business advertising cell phone service - the broadcast FAX was sent by Cell Direct, in Rockville, MD. I dealt with a young man named Andrew.

On that date, I ordered the $39.99 plan and was to be furnished a free cell phone, a charger, a travel charger, and a hands-free kit (the charger was missing from the kit). I was told that the phone would be expedited to me. After several phone calls, I finally received it on January 12, 2002.

The phone had been pre-tested by Cell Direct employees - and contained a letter stating as much. I, however, did NOT receive it until January 12, 2002. I started programming and customizing it immediately. It was then that I discovered that the number assigned to me (301-xxx-xxxx) was long distance from my home phone. Since this was counterproductive - with my

husband having to call me long distance just to reach me - I called Andrew, at Cell Direct, on Monday, January 15, 2002 to request that the number be changed to a local number, to my home. Andrew immediately got me a different line - 301-xxx-xxxx - which was local to my home phone. This line became effective on January 16, 2002.

Please note: AT NO TIME HAVE I EVER HAD TWO PHONE LINES - NOR DID I EVER REQUEST TWO PHONE LINES.

I operated the phone with no problems from 1/16/02 to 1/26/02. On January 26, 2002, I tried to use the phone as received a message that my "service has been interrupted". For the next twelve (12) days - I place at least three calls to Worldcom wireless - each one lasting at least an hour and a half - most of this time was spent on hold. Each person that I talked to

told me there was no reason for my service to be interrupted and that they would put an order through to have it reinstated. None of the people that I talked to did anything at all - and I was told to always call Worldcom wireless - never Cell Direct. For twelve days, I had no service.

On February 6, 2002, I called Cell Direct again and spoke to Andrew. I explained my problems with Worldcom wireless and he immediately placed a call that got the service reinstated.

When I received my first bill from Worldcom wireless, I had been charged for 2 phone lines for the period starting 1/6/02 through 1/24/02 - even though I didn't even receive the phone itself until 1/12/02. I spoke to a young lady named Shonnette in the Customer Service Dept on 2/26/02. She asked me to FAX her my bill - which I did. I asked if I could hold until she received

them and she said no - that it would take a while for the copies to be delivered to her desk. She asked that I furnish my phone numbers when I faxed her the bill - which I did. She further stated that she would call me back after looking at the bills.

Well, I never heard back from her - for 3 weeks. I assumed that she had taken care of my problem. Then I received my second bill - still charging me for 2 phone lines and taking no deduction for the twelve (12) days that I had no service.

I called again yesterday, 3/19/02 and asked for a supervisor. I was directed to a voice mail and told that no supervisor was available. The voice mail was for someone named Steven Binford (sp?). I received no call back from this person either.

I have had a cell phone with Verizon for more than 5 years and had NO PROBLEMS with them at all - AT ALL!!! I have been with Worldcom wireless for 2 + months and have had NOTHING BUT TROUBLE !!!!!!!

To boot, I was told by Cell Direct that I would be placed with Cingular - NOT Worldcom wireless.

According to my calculations, for the period from 1/12/02 through 1/24/02, I owe the sum of $34.75. For the period from 1/25/02 through 2/24/02 (deducting 12 days), I owe the sum of $32.38. The grand total that I owe you, at this time, is $67.13 - NOT $120.14.

I expect this to be corrected immediately or else I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau and any other government regulatory agencies that are appropriate.

By the way, I was also sent the wrong phone - and the phone I did receive had an "AT&T" cover with it.

I work for a Federal Government agency and if I ever had a department under me like the people that I've dealt with at Worldcom wireless - I'd overhaul the entire department and get rid of all of the incompetent employees.
