On Monday May 15, 2000 I brought my 1996 Jeep into West Covina Chrysler Jeep. Upon arrival I told them that my jeep was over heating and that my car was under an extended warranty. Later that day I got a call from Rene from the service dept. he told me that I had not maintained my vehicle and numerous things were wrong with my truck. I told him that I had the proper paperwork to prove that my truck had been maintained at my regular mechanics place (Ed's Jeep Specialist in Glendora).

He proceeded to tell me that my trucks radiator was clogged, my water pump was leaking and that I had blown a head gasket. I told him to call the warranty place regarding coverage on water pump etc.

May 16 an adjuster came out and took a report from Rene and inspected the vehicle. I called the dealer at approximately 1:00 and they told me my truck was almost finished. I asked them to have Rene call me after his lunch but never received the call. At around 3:30 I called and Rene said that he had spoke to the adjuster and submitted the following to him for repair, oil change, oil filter, transmission service, inductive service, differential service, radiator flush, and several other items too numerous to mention. I told Rene there was no way that the adjuster was going to go for all that and that I only came in for over heating. He told me that he was doing me a favor because he could report me to the adjuster saying that I had never maintained my vehicle.

At this point I felt threatened and told him he would need to speak to my brother who is more knowledgeable about cars than I. I called my brother and he told me to get the truck out of there, that they were ripping me off. May 17,I showed up at the dealer with a tow truck shortly behind and told Rene to release my truck so that I might have the truck fixed elsewhere. He asked me what my problem was and I told him that I felt he threatened me and was scamming me because I am a woman. He started to explain himself and I told him to just get my truck and I will pay the estimate and be on my way. He told me that they had to put the truck together?

After I paid $72.00 estimate fee I asked for a copy of the front and back of the work order, I was told they could not do that and I told them I needed it for the new mechanic to follow-up on all Rene's claims. They still refused me. I brought my truck over to Ed's and he called me and told me that the only thing wrong with my truck was the water pump was bad.

I was also told that my claim was denied by the extended warranty adjuster for lack of maintenance, my mechanic told me that since the dealer added all that extra stuff onto my claim it made the amount over $1000 and the adjuster would not had come out if they had only reported the water pump.

My brother went to the dealer that day and they said they could not believe that their service dept. would try to rip me off but they would look into it and take care of the matter. They also wanted me to bring my truck in for review.

May 20,I brought my Jeep to the dealer and spoke with the manager Rudy Keith I told him what happened and he said he would take care of it (he kept telling me to trust him) he said he would call me Monday May 22.

On May 23, I called and Rudy was not there and wasn't expected to be in until today May 24 at noon. I have still not heard a word and am out $72.00 for estimate, $115.00 rental car and $126.00 for water pump. WHAT A BUNCH OF JERKS.
