On April 10, 2001, My mother, a widowed senior citizen, took $10,000 dollars of her retirement monies to buy herself a new car, after giving a family member in need of a car, the one she had.

She went to Browns Honds City in Glen Burnie, Maryland. After she was giving a monthly paymeny quote close to $300,00 for 5 years, she told the saleperson of her situation and that beacause she was on a fix income, that she, if possible, wanted a lower monthly payment. She was told that if she put down a larger down payment, (then the one quoted for the $300.00 a month/5 years payment), it would not only lower her monthly payment, it would could lessen her years of payments as well.

She put down $10,000 cash. Her payments decreased from about $300.00 to $196.62 and the years down from 5 years to 3.

Now, 3 years later she was sent a letter from American Honda Finance, asking her if she want to purchase the car she thought she brought, trade it in, or give it back. She contacted American Honda Finance, and received no help. The Dealership has been giving her the run around, and the Owner, Mr. Tim Eubank, have been avoiding her all together.

In less than a week, the time will expire on that contact. She will no longer have transportation. Nor does she have money to re-finance the car she thought she way buying, or even to buy a new car. After during alot of research... she found out that Browns Honda City has a bad rating with the Better Business Bureau. That American Honda Finance Trust have been defrauding Afro-Americans, forcing them into finance agreement that was much higher than those for Caucasian individuals(In Wisconsin and other states). Her $10,000 dollar receipt is bogus(It has nothing on it to ID the Retailer), her finance application only had her name of it...(nothing filled in), and she was convinced that it would be in her best interest to buy a extended warranty, despite the fact that the Honda Accord was new, with a 3year/36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty.

This is a true Nightmare!!!!!!!!! Do these kind of people have mothers and grandmother of their own, or did they crawl from underneith a rock!!

This is the exact REASON that we are easily ATTACKED by other Countries...we are so busy trying to defend against attacks by our own people, in our own country, that we are life defenseless against all others.

I have read your posting. You my friend need to spend some time reading more of the auto dealer Rip Off Reports. I feel that car makers do NOT care as to what car dealer's employees do or say to car buyers. Just so long as they roll the sleds off the lot and into a car Buyer's driveway. Auto lenders don't car what bogus car dealers they get from car dealers, Just as long as they get the interest money. It is a big Rip Off that will keep going. Many AG's in this country don't go after the dirty car dealers. it seems to me that they look the other way when they find deception in the auto industry. If you want to see a car dealer get SPANKED, go to the below URL's and see what a good AG shout be doing. http://www.oag.state.ny.us/press/1999/jul/jul14b_99.html http://www.oag.state.ny.us/press/2000/oct/oct26a_00.html http://www.oag.state.ny.us/press/1999/dec/dec06b_99.html http://www.oag.state.ny.us/press/2002/feb/feb28b_02.html http://www.oag.state.ny.us/press/2000/mar/mar28a_00.html http://www.oag.state.ny.us/press/2002/nov/nov07b_02.html http://www.oag.state.ny.us/press/2001/dec/dec13b_01.html My hat is Off to Eliot Spitzer is a man that all consumers in New York should thank. He has the balls to spank car dealers that are reported to be playing deceptive car buying games. It is a shame I can't say the same about other AG's John do you really think calling Honda Motor Crop is going to do the car buyer any good? Get real, Profit is NUMBER 1. CSI is a front. CSI is only out there to make the buyer feel good. Contact Ford Motor Crop and ask what the hell is the Blue Oval program for? It is all emotional BS that is used as a tool to pump MO money out of the car Buyer's pocket. If anybody wants me to post some good reading about deception in the auto industry, JUST ASK for it and I will post it.

I suggest calling American Honda Customer Relations

The American Honda Motor Company tries very hard to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction. I suggest calling American Honda Customer Relations at 1-800-999-1008/1009/5901. This will put you in touch with someone that is from American Honda and not the dealer. A response will be sent to the dealer requiring a response and satisfatory resolution to this concern. Hope this helps. These are good cars. I just wish all the dealers were just as good.

I'm sorry to hear about your mother's problems. It sounds like she leased a car for $17,000, that she thought she was buying. I did almost the same thing at the same time except I knew I was leasing. Vehicles were much more expensive at that time, pre 9/11 then they are today. I was in a lease paying $450 a month for 36 months. I can now lease that same vehicle for $229 per month. All the money I spent on the lease would now buy me the same truck, just about. That's good news and bad news. She can probably lease another Honda for $199 a month without putting down alot of money. Another good news aspect is she is out of the Honda. She can just walk away from it, less any fees and get into something else. The bad news is she sunk alot of money into the Honda she is turning in. I'm sorry she lost so much of her money. Go with her next time and watch those scumbag car dealers like a hawk. Car dealers treat everyone equally bad reguardless of color.
