On 1/19/09 I had the oil changed in my 2008 Saturn Vue. Later the next day when my wife was driving it the engine started to make noise. She turned off engine and called me. I advised to pull dipstick and check oil. The dipstick indicated no oil. I called Walmart and they sent a tech out to check car.

Upon his arrival he knew exactly where to go indicating to me that this has happened before. They replaced defective o ring then filled engine with oil. When engine first cranked it was noisy for about 10 seconds or so then quitened down. We took it back to their shop where the tech cleaned up the car (oil was all over engine compartment) and told us if we had any problems to advise them. This is my wife's car and she noticed that when she started engine while cold it would rattle for a few seconds then go to normal sound.

I reported this to Saturn and they advised to bring the car into them so they could analyze. Saturn advised that the best thing to do was replace the engine with a new one from Saturn. Walmart (Claims Management, Inc.) wants to put in a used engine that I have no personal knowledge nor will they release any history on the engine. Saturn has advised that if the used engine is placed in my vehicle it will void the Powertrain Warranty the currently exists on my vehicle.

Claims Management wants to pay me $3695.95 and Saturn wants $5400.00 to replace the engine. Saturn refuses to put the used engine in and Claims Management advises that they will not and cannot provide anyone to perform the work. My name is Gene Nichols and I live in Mooringsport, LA

All they are required to do is make you whole. A new engine is out of the question without an attorney, and/or small claims court. As long as the used engine has the same(or fewer) miles as the current one, they have made you whole. It's a raw deal, but you will be better off in the long run to just take their payment, and pay the extra for the new one out of pocket.
