I wanted my tax return back fast so one option that was suggested to me is that I use Walmart's money card. My tax return was loaded on the card on Feb 11 2011. I tried to use the card and it said I had no balance but the IRS notified me the nearly $2000 was refunded to me via the Walmart money card. I called many time in Feb, almost daily in march and everyday in April. They change their story asked me for ID I faxed that. That was ok ... one excuse after another they have given me.  Today I took off work to try and resolve this and guess what now they want some more proof of ID. I lost it but it doesn't matter to them. I have threatened them with lawsuits,  news programs like 3 on your side. I have tried everything under the sun to try to get them to release my funds. As of today 04/04/11 not even a promise of help. They first send you to someone in the Philippines then if you keep complaining it goes to someone in Monrovia California. Today I spent 6 hours on hold from my four phone calls being transferred to one representative and supervisor after another.   I spoke to Kathy in Monrovia rj in the Philippines, Kathy in the Philippines, Josie in the Philippines these were just a few whose names I wrote down. Finally I called Walmart and bless her heart the represtitave said well we are GE money bank and we don't handle this. "Its like your calling the electric company about your water bill". She said maybe I should tell the store manager. I laughed out loud.

Well, it's likely that this is a rare occurance, either that or there have been sweeping changes at green dot, but I actually got a call from a green dot "manager" today who said they replaced the eight dollars in my account, it wasn't even their error or responsibility it was the car wash that double charged me but they did it anyway. They also issued me a new card for free. I guess I'm gonna have to give them a second chance.

I recently went through an automatic car wash and used my walmart money card held by greendot. When I swiped it the first time nothing happened and I waited for about three minutes. Still nothing happened so I swiped it again. This time it allowed me to choose my option for the car wash and I proceeded. That evening I was checking my balance and noticed I had two eight dollar charges instead of one. I immediately began attempting to contact the car wash owners but the phone numbers listed for them at all the National Pride and Pueblo Laser car washes (Both owned by the same company) are disconnected numbers. I then contacted the police department and the assessors offices for a valid number but they had the same number listed that I had. So I contacted walmart money card to initiate a dispute. They told me I needed to wait until the end of the month to see if the vendor caught and corrected the mistake on their own. At the end of the month I contacted walmart money card once again and explained that it had not been corrected.

After going through a series of hurry up and wait emails over the course of another week I was finally contacted by phone by walmart money card. They indicated to me that they could issue a dispute but they would have to consider the card as compromised and cancel it, then re-issue me a card at a cost of three dollars. I explained it was in all probability a mechanical or software clitch not an actual attempt to fraudulently charge my card and that the vendor simply needed this pointed out by a dispute claim. They said no, they can't do that. If we file a dispute we have to see the card as compromised. I've held fifteen or twenty various credit and debit cards before and have on occasion had to file disputes and have never, ever, had the card holding company tell me the card had to be considered compromised and be issued a new card. Especially not with a charge tacked on! Are they trying to say that every single person who reports a dispute has to be issued a new card and pay a three dollar fee?

I don't know what the cost involved in the card printing and account setup is but I don't imagine it's much since they probably already have millions of them just waiting for your name to be stamped on them and since the account management is handled overseas the people entering the information are likely getting paid a pittance compared to similar positions stateside. So if there are even one million disputes per year requireing issuance of a new card and if even half that money is some form of profit then that is one and a half million dollars per year walmart money card makes off the issuance of new cards due strictly to people filing disputes. It's bad enough that one company ripped me off already without having to then turn around and be ripped off by the company I'm already paying a monthly fee to for the use of their card. I realize that at most it's only eleven dollars but it's not the amount, it's the nerve of these companies to use the fact that you've been ripped off to rip you off again.

There is absolutely no reason they could not file a dispute against that charge and wait for a resolution, for good or bad, without having to cancel the card, lock up my funds that are on the card for a week until they are able to send me a new one and then charge me an additional fee for having done so. Plus, the agent I spoke with refused to allow me to talk to somebody higher that spoke better english and said that was "just the way we do it". I finally convinced him that I'd find a way to talk to somebody higher through other channels if necessary so he agreed to have a "dispute supervisor" contact me by phone but to this day that has not occurred and I'll be cancelling my card immediately.

I too am a victim of the Scam that is "Walmart Money Card" . Where do i start ...Terrible Terrible Customer Service, everyone you speak to is from a foreign country with thick accents and very hard to understand and comprehend, which is only one of the many issues i ran across..

So about a month on 5/23/14 i noticed a charge on my account that i did not authorize off $400 on my Walmart Money Card. I contacted customer service and was informed to complete a Dispute from which i had to download off there website and email it to them, which i found odd .I didnt understand Why i couldnt explain my dispute over the phone instead of filing out the dispute letter in which you only get soo much space(9 sentences to be exact) Only to find that after my 7-10 days of waiting on my dispute to process that i needed to re-do it because i was told it would get denied .

I've now put in 2 dispute on the same unauthorized transaction in which i would have to wait another 7-10 days for my own money. So after the 9th day of the 2nd dispute i recieved a $200 credit on my account which wasnt even a full refund of my original $400. I spent that money only to recieve a letter from Wal-mart Stating that my dispute has been denied and they were going to reverse the credit and withdraw $200 from my account coincidentally on the day that my direct deposit post.

After reading several other's stories i am almost certain there is something Funny going on with the handling of your money via Walmart Money Card. I just hop others read this before they too find themselves out of their hard earned money all because we decied to give a prepaid debit card a try... SO USE MY STORY AS A NOTE TO SELF...IF YOU SEE THE WALMART MONEY CARD-----> RUN THE OTHER WAY!

I was double charged on a transaction and when I called Walmart MoneyCard to dispute they asked me to contact the processing company that made the mistake , so I did.. the processing company acknowledged they double charged me and they reversed the charges back into my account , I called MoneyCard customer service and dispute department more than 11 times after that and they never released my money that was refunded back from the processing company, they asked me to provide proof, so I called the processing company and they faxed the refund letter to Walmart along with the case number, transaction number and trace number , I called Walmart and they said the case has been closed and they can't refund the money, even after I supplied them with multiple proofs that the company had refunded the money back to me , I am $310 poorer and Walmart never cared , and it looks like their support and customer service is outsourced somewhere because they all seem to have the same foreign accent , I lost $310 and no one at Walmart MoneyCard is willing to help , they even told me they cannot make any outside calls to investigate the matter.

I had my Walmart Money Card number somehow stolen right after loading 400.00 on it at a local store. By the next morning, all of the funds had been used. I called Green Dot in time that they could have stopped the transactions, but they refused.

They asked me to send snail mail reporting it, which I did. I did everything that they asked, and they never refunded my money. They only closed my accounts for using it for "Business Purposes", which I did not use it for business purposes.

They are a scam company for sure. I now use Chase, and wonder how I ever got mixed up in that Green Dot mess to begin with.

Walmart Moneycard is a Great Product

I have been a customer of Walmarts Moneycard for many years.  I have recieved payments as small as $10 and as big as $8,000 I have rarely had any issues. When I do have an issue, always caused by a merchant, Walmart Money/GE Bank have been pretty quick to help me.

I have bought new cards many times and they are happy to transfer any left over money to my new card.I have had some issues with Paypal, Netflix and XM Radio all trying to take money after I stopped doing business with them or in the case of Paypal allowing a scammer to keep money for an undilivered product. In every case Walmart Moneycard sided with me and had my money back with in 5 to 30 days.

Walmart is thinking about expanding the Moneycard program to have more banking services tied to the card and I for hope they do. If I can deposit checks to the card I will never bank anywhere else again. And no I do not work for Walmart. I wouldnt work there, they are a HORRIBAD employer my mom worked there for 10 years and said it was hell.
