Our fan went out in our vehicle, which will allow the vehicle to overheat. Before taking it to a shop to be fixed, we needed a new tire. My husband took it to the Hamilton, NJ Wal-Mart Tire and Lube Center. He told the technician about the problem, and had him say several times that he understood to turn it off once it was in the bay, so it would not overheat, before handing him the keys.

My husband then stood in line behind two other customers giving the attendant all their information. The technician who took our keys could not find a tire that would fit our vehicle, so the manager told him to get one off the top shelf. He went back into the store, found a ladder, climbed up and got the tire off the top shelf, put the ladder away, rolled the tire out of the store, and then... there was a loud explosion!! He had left our vehicle running for 20 minutes, it had overhetaed, the radiator cracked, and the engine block cracked... $5,000.oo worth of damage! My husband wrote up a statement detailing what happened, and had the assistent store manager sign it, managers agreed at the time, that the technician should have turned the vehicle off. My husband had them file a claim as well while he was there.

My husband had to leave the vehicle there, and rent a car to go get our son from shcool, he was late to the school because of this event, and our 5 yr old son had to sit in the school office until my husband got there. Wal-Mart had our vehicle towed to our house.

We have been renting a car now for 3 mths. We have not been able to pay our rent and utilities because of renting this car, which we need to get to work, and to get our son to anf fro school, (our vehicle was paid for). Now, we are out of money, do not get paid for another two weeks, and dont know how we will get to work, to keep food on the table and our heads above water.

The assistent manager told the claims rep that she signed the statment agreeing that she was the one who took the statement??? And so, they say it is not their responsibility to pay for anything!! All we asked for is them to pay for the damages, and reimburse us for the rental car! It would be a tiny amount for the Wal-Mart corporation, and a life changing amount for us!! Please help if you can!!

Why is Walmart letting ANYONES car run for 20 MINS????

#2Consumer Suggestion

I dont use Walmart Tire & Boob for anything EXCEPT tires, and even then I will usually take the wheels in myself. But its nice to know if I did, they would let my car RUN FOR TWENTY MINUTES! or who really knows how long! Now I guess it's a good idea to CHECK YOUR GAS LEVEL and turn the heater wide open before you drop off your car with em! (and your odometer too)

What a bunch of phuckwads, you really should think thrice b4 dealing with these guys.

From the boob files....

Flat tire #1.  Small puncture in sidewall (not intentional).  Boob guy-"I fixed your tire"  Me-"oh yeah, where'd you plug it?"  Boob guy-"I didn't hafta, it was leaking around the rim".  Me-"Nice try, It may have been leaking from the rim caz it was COMPLETELY FLAT from leaking from the sidewall.  TRY AGAIN".

Flat#2.  Bigger puncture in sidewall- air leaking out fairly quickly. Made it to walmart by use of an airtank.  (Fix-a-flat too weak to air up-  Too rainy a day to put on spare).  Tire is flat by the time I "register" at the desk.  I pull out my tank again to airup so I can pull the car in to change the tire.  Boobguy-"Thats not gonna work."  Me-"This got me here didnt it?"  Boobguy-"That holes in the sidewall, we cant fix that!"  Me-"No s**t, thats why I have the warranty.  Go fetch me a new tire!"

It looks like you reside in Cream Ridge NJ.  So, you took your car with a broken fan from Cream Ridge (or where ever) to Hamilton to get a tire, that is approximately a 30 Minute drive??

Besides 'any' amount of driving without a way to cool your engine down is basically stupid.  It should have been towed.

Yet you are blaming Wal-Mart for damage to an already over heated Car??  Sounds like your 30 Minute  (or any minute) ride for a tire, already 'did in'  your car...   Nice Try...

People like you make me shake my head in sadness, and wonder when -  when, will the people in this country stop playing the "Blame Game"????   Take responsibility for your own stupidity!  Man up!!

In that first post regarding the rotors, I CLEARLY stated "for best performance" you either want to turn or replace the rotors.

And, this is absolutely true.

The better the surfaces mate, the less friction, and the less heat. And a more smooth stop.

I was doing this when you were in diapers.

When I say "cut" or "turn", that can be just enough to clean up the rotor. You are not really taking much of anything off. Mainly checking for warpage and heat spots. That's it. Nothing more.

I was not "wrong" at all. You have not eduacted me. You simply don't know what the hell you are talking about and that is why your illiterate a*s works at tire Kingdom!

I rest my case.

You will NOT get any settlement from walmart...EVER!

This really begs the question - why would anyone EVER go to walmart for ANY reason?

If anyone does not understand the myriad reasons for NEVER spending a DIME at walmart, you must live under a rock.

That corporation is the worst!

EDUCATE YOURSELF!

if this story is true i can kind of sympthasize with you---however---you make the comment that you told the technician multiple times to turn the car off cause it overheats--you were worried it may blow----so then may i ask-----why the f are you drivin it around in the first place to go to wal mart just to get a tire-----and before you go to a shop that will fix the fan?????????---let us also say you told the technician multiple times to turn it off--it sounds like you treat people like dumbass's and therefore you yourself are a dumbass and may have deserved this for being a dumbass by driving it around in the first place knowing it overheats-like a dumbass i may add!!!!!!!!!!why not just toe it to a shop to fix it first before you do anythig else---you don't care about your car that is obviosly so important to you---if you did not have the money to fix it you should have boiught the parts yourself and replaced the fan-they are not hard to change---if you couldn't afford to DIY then you should of figured something else out---sounds like a typical setup to me----it also does not look good when you say wal mart is a big corporation and a tiny amount to them is a life changing/big thing to you--please help if you can-------sounds like your an idiot who is tryin to get a free ride---may i suggest you take this harsh criticism and think about it
