I recieved a perscription from my Doctor for Nasacort Allergy 24 hour. While in Wal-Mart I saw an over the counter display of Nasacort Allergy 24 hour. The price was $17.99. I took the perscription to the pharmacy thinking the dosage was stronger. The Prarmist informed me the co-pay  was $40.00 and the dosage was the same. I have Medicare and United Health Care. I purchased the over the counter and told them to keep the scrip.

This means they get my $40.00 co pay. Charge my insurance another ?? who knows how much and they have doubled the already inflated price plus got paid from the insurance company. this cannot be legal or is this what Obama Care has done to the medicine cost which is already inflated beyond fair. I am sure this applies to all medication that can be prescribed and sold over the counteer.

Not many details here. As a former pharmacy technician I'll explain it the best I can. If you didn't pay the 40 dollar co-pay then there was no transaction so there was no insurance claim. All they do is put the medication back in stock. No harm no foul. But if you did pay the co-pay they are not legally able to keep your medication. All prices of medications are on the Medicare website and there should be a phone number on your insurance card you can call for customer service. It's usually a place called MedImpact
