Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
July 3, 2007 I took my well running Pontiac Grand Prix in to Wal-Mart Tire Lube & Express in for a routine oil change. The sales person also sold me a fuel injector cleaning service "on sale". I thought sure, Why not. Gas Prices rising. 45 minutes later I got back in my car. Tried to start it several times, wouldn't start. Finally got it running. It was miss firing and idling horribly. So IMMEDIATLY went back into the store. Talked to the Co- store manager and Tire & Lube Manager. They didn't now what they had did wrong. They suggested I take it to a mechanic. I barely got myself and my 9 year old son home. ( I live in a rural area 60 miles away.) I called my mechanic and got my car to him. My mechanic took my engine apart. He found that the fuel injector cleaning system had caused a fire in my engine, melted my plenum and 4 of the 6 fuel injectors. All the resulting melted debris went into my engine and blew a valve.

After one month of daily calls to Marilyn Marshall, Case Manager, Claims Management, Inc 888-213-7534ext62877 [email protected]., who deigned to talked to me only 3 times, decided that wal-mart was not responsible for the damage. My car was responsible for the damage because it backfired. (Note: fuel-injector cleaner caused backfire-irony alert).

So, today August 8 2007, my family of 5 is left with a hefty repair bill, not to mention a HUGE inconvience of the loss of a car to go to work, drop 3 kids off at day care, go grocery shopping in the closest town, 7 miles away.

Is it worth disrupting my way of life, not to mention my finances, to try to fight a huge conglomerate such as Wal-Mart? The peon that I am.

The "Fuel Injector Cleaner Service" that Wal-Mart is offering is dangerous and should never be purchased by any consumer. The service was only introduced earlier this year, at the Wal-Mart shop where I worked we all refused to do these services, they are not safe. Upper management pushes these because they make so much money for the shop. they only care about the profit. Wal Mart is not an ASE certified shop and should not be working on peoples intakes, their hiring standards and training is not sufficient to be doing this type of work. This problem is compounded with the fact that many people cars should not get this service, some are too old and have too many deposits while others are simply not compatible. Wal-Mart cannot gaurantee with their training standards that every employee will be able to spot a car that should, or should not have this service done. If you continue to fight this, please go easy on the techs and management of the shop, they are powerless to help you.
