I am reporting the phone giant Verizon, in particular their residential service.  Below is a copy and paste of a hard copy letter that I sent to Verizon.  What gets even better after you read the letter bellow, is when I talked to a Verizon rep for the final time on the phone last night, he (Walter) said that according to the notes he was looking at, I originally refused international calling to the Philippines.  Now I want you to think about this for a minute, if you are in the United States and you are calling about residential service, what would possess the phone rep to ask you if you would like to add the international package to call the Philippines out of the blue? After you read the letter below, here is what I believe happened.  I believe that the phone rep who originally set up my order failed to set it up properly and went back and tried to cover their but. Here's another kicker, the phone call came out to 7.39  a minute! that my folks should be down right criminal.

To whom it may concern

After several attempts to resolve the outrages and totally unfair long distance international charge of
$682.80, Terminate this phone service immediately.

Background: WhenI initially choose Verizon as our land line and long distance carrier, I did so
at the recommendation of a friend SPECIFICALLY for the $4.99 additional international package.

When I talked with the Verizon phone representative to setup phone service I asked specifically for the international package to call the Philippines.  The representative quoted to me over the phone that with the $4.99 international package, phone calls to the Philippines, would be .10 a minute. (this phone conversion was supposed to be recorded?)

After the line was connected at the outside of the house I called Verizon via my cell phone
3609133735 (also Verizon) to ensure the line was operational with the international package, I was told by the Verizon rep, Yes.  (Another call that was supposed to be recorded).

On November 30th my wife placed a call to the  Philippines with the understanding that the cost would be .10 per minute.

After receiving the initial shocking phone bill I immediately contacted Verizon.  I was told by 3 different Verizon representatives that this was an oversight on Verizons part and that billing for the international call would be adjusted (pro-rated is the exact word the representative used).

The last two phone conversations I had with Verizon customer service reps, is that I would receive a phone call from a Verizon supervisor to my cell phone (removed) or home number listed below.   To date, no one has called.

This bill is unfair and unjust, Im 43 years old and currently on active duty, with 24 years of service in the U.S Navy.   We are home owners with an excellent credit history. "
