My girlfriend called this nationwide "emergency loocksmith service" to get her lock changed. They charged $500! I called a couple hours later without revealing who I was asking them how much it is to change a lock. They said $90. Once I told them what happened they say they can't help me and they will have there boss call me back. He has not. Now that I've called about 25 times, they recognize my voice and hang up immediately.

If you paid by credit card, call your credit card company and dispute the charge. You clearly got scammed, and credit cards are supposed to protect you against this kind of thing.

This comapany has used other company names without permission, There are over 15 numbers in our local phone book here that all go to USA, Fake addresses, They over charge the customer over 300% over a real locksmith, They hire anyone and they have no training and are NOT BONDED or insured, Please check your yellow pages for the real companys and make sure you get a min to max cost of what you want done before you have anyone come out, The Local news media here is trying to find out who they really are and if I get any info I will post it as soon as I know, Yes I am a locksmith and they have scammed our company name on the web, This really hurts us REAL Locksmiths when we are doing all we can to promote real service, If you do not want a Con in your house call someone else other then USA. If they have scammed you please contact the police or contact your state rep for help.

This might be the situation with the locksmith company I used (check for Golden Locksmith AKA A Locksmith on this website). It happened to me in Atlanta, GA. They will not reveal thier location. They list a UPS store PO Box as an address, under the Florida BBB and GA Consumer page, they list an apartment complex as an address. I had a crises situation and my family member probably picked them since A Locksmith was the first entry in the phone book. An unmarked van came, and in retrospect, I should have asked for information and licensing, but I did not know. It was dark and did not see a second work order receipt listing $1059, it looked like $115 on the carbon copy for my credit card. They used cheap TUFF STUFF locks. A very terrible experience. They also could have re-keyed the lock

NATIONWIDE SCAM ..These companies take advantage of persons who are desparate and locked out of their car or home or business.

I am a locksmith and am very proud of my profession. I feel it is my duty to warn everyone I can about this scam that is sweeping the nation. There is/are company/ies who are listing multiple (and I mean up to twenty) listings in the online phone directories,,,and when they do this, they will put symbols or numbers in front of their names to get the first twenty or so listings, for obvious reasons. When you call for help you are most likely calling an out of state 800 number but they ask you your zip code and tell you they are local. These companies take advantage of persons who are desparate and locked out of their car or home or business. Please be aware and call someone you know is local! Also, just as a good rule of thumb, call and get estimates from at least three different locksmiths if you have the time. IF a locksmith quotes a price and then hits you with some exorbitant bill after the work is done, CALL THE POLICE IMMEDIATELY!!!!!!!! Many states require locksmiths to be licensed, and these folks SAY they are licensed, but they are NOT. Do an internet search for LOCKSMITH RIPOFF< SCAM, or check some video archives of some news stations, as this has been reported MANY times, and sting operations have been done to prove it! There are also been lawsuits in Chicago which are on record as well. BE AWARE. I hope this saves someone time, and MONEY! An easy way to check and see if one of the companies is 'one of these' just check several sites that are listed and see if they take you to the same site. Do a search right now for locksmiths (this is most prevalant in and near large cities like Chicago, Los Angeles etc) but does affect the surrounding suburbs and towns as well.
