I've had unbelievably severe static, echoing, dead line and calls unable to come through for the past 9 months on my US West phone line. I had the techs come out here 3 times, and was told every time that it was my phones, my answering machine, my computer, my phone jack, etc, etc. This has cost me plenty in wasted long-distance charges, lost job interviews (they can't get through), wasted internet access, wasted time, aggravation, etc.
The last time the techs came out, he finally admitted to me that it was a problem with US Wests equipment (a router/switcher or something), and that US West knew it, but had refused to acknowledge it to the customer, as it was due to be replaced in another month. To hear this after I had already replaced 2 phones, my phone jack, and my Internet Service Provider, (all at their suggestion), made me really angry.
I called US West billing armed with this new information, and wanted to be given credit for all the lost service and aggravation they cost me, but all they would do is give me a measly $9/month credit for 9 months. I told them I will see them in court. Unbelievable.
US West is the worst phone company on earth (and I have dealt with 4 others). Do not use them for your phone service if you can possibly avoid it.
