Since October 25th, 2001 I have been trying complete my education via web correspondence. The school stated that they have been in business since 1998, and was in the business of helping adults with limited income continue their education for a fraction of the cost. It stared out great. They provided each student with user id and pass code to take all 9 courses online, and at the end of each course you would take an end of course quiz. After all quizes where completed you would take a final exam in the presence of a proctor.

Throughout the entire time 10/01 - present the school would close the web site during diffrent times of the year not allowing students access to the web site. Then they started a new system where you had to pay an additional $20.00 per month to have access to the courses and other information. This went on for about 4 months, and now the telephone is disconnected and the web site will not come up. Please beware of this type of organization in the future!!!

This FAKE ORGANIZATION IS BASED IN HAWAII, AND HAVE SEVERAL ADDRESS!!!

What agreements? DCCA has received complaints over the last 3

Kirstie, I too am/was a student at UAR. I have been in contact with the Department of Commercial and Consumer Affairs office in Hilo, who have sent an investigator to the last known address at Kinoole St. He has reported that the landlord of the building has stated that UAR has not been there for nearly 1 year. I have had mail returned from that address and the phone numbers (fax and office) are disconnected. The DCCA has received complaints over the last 3 years regarding the UAR, also the BBB of Hawaii has received many complaints on the UAR and have given them an unfavorable rating due to no response regarding any complaints. How can we continue to get our degree if there is no office support? By the way, who said that your agreement would be terminated? Was it someone from the UAR? or someone else? How did they find out about your complaint?

The department of commerce and consumer affairs is preparing to file a suit against the UAR. To file a formal complaint with them, use the web link http://www.state.hi.us/dcca/ocp/forms.html. According to their investigator, the UAR office has been gone for nearly 1 year from their location at Kinoole St.

Don't spend money on a meaningless degree!

Kristie, The best thing you could do would be to stop sending money to this "university". Exactly what type of "advanced research" do they do? The school is non-accredited, non-recognized, and non-existent. There are several accredited schools which will make it possible for you to get your degree at a low cost. Thomas Edison State College in New Jersey, Charter Oak College in Connecticut, and Exelsior College in New York are all regionally-accredited and all allow you to finish your degree requirements by taking online colleges, taking courses at a local college or university, or taking CLEP exams. Good luck!
