For the second time UPS did not leave me a notice of a delivery attempt until the FINAL notice -- it was too late to make arrangements to pick up the package.

I work long hours for our Army at war, and usually once I receive the first notice I make arrangements to pick up the package -- I check the door daily because I am excited about getting the purchase.  UPS was no help at all in me get my package -- they simply returned it to the sender and it turned into a big mess -- at Christmas!

I will make every attempt possible to use the US Postal Service or FedEx -- never UPS!

The same or worse happens with all other carriers.

Info notices are not manditory by any carrier, but always left by UPS. They are a courtesy service only. Unlike USPS of FEDEX, UPS always leaves info notices. Those small sticky note type papers often fall or blow off where they are attached, especially in cold weather. They are also removed by other individuals and the message is not relayed to person meant to receive the package. Dosn't it seem odd that a notice was indeed left once but, according to this complainer, not two other times?

If the reception of the shipment was that important, why was the tracking number not available to monitor for exact arrival date? That tracking number is also available with a simple call to UPS. Each time the the info notice was supposedly not left, the driver would have knocked and/or rang a door bell. Evidentally the door was not answered during the first two attempts for delivery, but could have been seen in the tracking information.

A shipment is never "simply returned". If the signature that was required by the sender could not be gotten after a full three attempts, it is then held at the local UPS hub facility for FIVE business days. This allows the receiver to make those arrangements - that this complainer states he/she usually makes to pick up anyways.

So why exactly did this complainer decide not to make those arrangements? Why was the phone number on the info notice ignored? There is an odd descrepancy here.

This sort of complaint is also common with FEDEX, and it is common knowledge that the archaic USPS system problems run rampant. We ship via all carriers at our facility, and USPS is dubbed our "necessary evil".
