We are in the middle of construction right now so I will limit some of my disgust, frustation and dissatisfaction until we are completed.  I wish I had found this site before we chose United-Bilt Homes as our contractor.

Like the others, the sales people on the office are very nice and accommodating, you want to trust them. DO NOT. All of the little things we wanted in the contract we were told, It will be harder to get this approved, we will just talk to the subs and make it happen.  NOT.

Did not check city regulations before finalizing plans, shoddy workmanship, blown out slab,no supervision, no working plans on site, returned phone calls only after repeated attempts. no regular communication with homeowner, no dumpster or site cleanup....the list goes on and on.

We signed a contract in April 2013 and were told we would be completed no longer than 6 monhts.  Given that it is a small house (1380 sf) that it would probably be more like 4 months.  It is now the end of September and we do not have a fully shingled roof and just starting utility rough ins.  Shame on us for not taking the time to read EVERY WORD in the contract.  There are a lot of outs for the company and none for the consumer.

No matter how good the deal sounds in the office, my advice would be to look elsewhere.

We are going through the exact same situation as you. I could not have written this any better than you, other than you forgot to mention that you have to pay on a house you don't live in. We were told that we had 6 months to make a payment, lead to believe it was 6 months from completion of the house, no not so, we must make a payment in April per contract which we were referred to. Number one answer when you call them, read the agreement, any verbal communcation or written is void after you sign the agreement. What a mess we are in!

We are now near the end of November.  Just got walls textured.  Still have all paint, cabinets, all light and plumbing fixtures, AC, rails on stairs and other items to be completed.  Looking at another 30 days...8 months for a 4 month project, if we are done in 30 days.  Lots of lip service, not a lot of action.
