I am a victim of being ripped off by United Auto Acceptance. I feel that there are others out there, and I see this when researching the company online. My car was repossessed by them due to payments they claim they didn't receive.

* This has occured to me on (2) occassions within a 1 year period 2008-09 *

I received reposession and felt that it may have been due to my recent lay off of 3 months not working. During the time, I mailed off what I could. I did not contact them to make payment arrangements because they told me that they do not offer payment arrangements because they are a buy here pay here company. I aquired a job the 4th month and had accumulated paying up 3 of the 4 months worth of payments during the lay off. When my car was repossessed, I thought, OK, I'm just 1-2 payments behind, I understand. I checked my credit report and it reflected 2 payments behind.

I called the office the next morning , spoke to Mrs. Matthews, to clarify repossession and the amount to recover the vehicle. I was told that I was past due $1700 and needed to pay a $300 reposession fee along with an advance payment of $200 and some other amount which totaled to $2300. I was shocked. I began to ask Mrs. Matthews how did she come to the amount and to provide a breakdown in writing for me so that I can research it. She replied, " I don't have to put anything in writing for you!" " I don't have to give you your car back! You are lucky that you had it for 107 days!" She was yelling at me and began to curse me out.

I asked her, "Why are you talking me like this? I am a customer calling to get things rectified. You have never met me." I was extremely shocked and began to yell at her back explaining that I needed a breakdown sheet because I knew the amount was incorrect. I shared that my credit report only reflects $900 and I didn't know how she came to $1700. She yelled, my "girl" must have made a mistake but she would change it to $1700. She yelled that I did not make a payment since a certain date and I told her she was a liar, a payment was made and another bulk payment was sent priority mail. I explained that the same issue occured last year (2008) over (2) money orders. I felt that someone may be stealing payments. She denied that I was telling the truth and asked me to research the money orders and yelled that she doesn't have to give me my car back. She gives the final say. I angrily hung up the telephone.

2 days later, I received a call from another representative and he was extremely nice. He was actually calling to see if I would cover the balance to pick up the vehicle. I explained the awful conversation I had with Mrs. Matthews and her decision to not give me my car back. I found out that the car was still in the state I relocted to and they had not shipped it back to Atlanta. We began discussing the "missing money order". I shared with him the MO# and later researched the confirmation slip with the US Post Office. Low and behold, my payment was delivered to them 2 days after I mailed it and there was a confirmation that it was received...... I shared this detail with the gentleman. I suggested that he researches internally to ensure that no one's stealing payments. I told him that I would extend this further by filing a claim on the money order to see who cashed it. Well this will be a 60 day process but the truth has to surface. Another thing, they charged me with a $300 recovery fee for a car that they haven't even transported back to Atlanta yet. What in the world is going on!!!!

This company needs to listen to their customers, reason, and find the "truth" behind the story.

I only had 10 more payments or less to have the car paid off. In no way, were they concerned about my money invested and my interest of wanting to pay the car off. What will they say when they find that additional payments were made which totals up to about $1000 dollars?

I would definitely suggest that you re-consider doing business with Pars Cars or United Auto Acceptance. Regardless, of what they say about putting you in a car regardless of your credit.
