United Atlantic Public Adjusters UAPA uses another company to contact those who have experienced disaster to their home (in my case, specifically a tornado). The door to door sales person will approach you with the promise of meeting with the insurance adjuster and ensuring that you get fair monies for your damages. The contract is on an i-pad and you cannot read anything that you sign. Signing this contract can be used to take away your rights to the payment that the insurance company deems fair. They do not give you any type of appraisal or any information. You do not have a chance to even read the contract. You sign with both the door to door and with UAPA on separate pages via the i-pad. Fortunately, I asked for a copy, read it, and sent the cancellation in on the second day. Then, after talking with representative from both organizations, it became very hard to get a release needed by the insurance company. After several days, I called again. Michelle answered the phone yelling "STOP calling here (name). You will get it today". And then HUNG UP. I cannot imagine that any reputable organization would tolerate such behavior by an employee. I am glad that I got the paperwork and read it....and cancelled it. If you have an interaction with these people, be careful. The sales guy was great. Just making a living. But dealing with UAPA is not pleasant.

I wish I knew who wrote this complaint.  We are available to our clients 24 hours a day.  We file and handle over a thousand claims a year.  Contractors send us contracts to represent clients. 

We call every client and discuss the process of filing the claim and how the funds will go into a holding account until the job begins.  In addition when a job is sold and we are not present the customer calls into a phoneline and the entire process is explained as well as the homeowner acknowdleges understanding with name and date. 

Every customer is called prior to the filing of the claim and the process for filing the claim is explained again as well as a phonenumber that is our personal number to call with any problem 24 hours a day, 7days a week.  The release for a cancellation is sent to the insurance company not the homeowner. 

We are not in anyway a partnership with contractors and sole purpose is to protect the homeowner and act on their behalf.  Customer service is very very important to us as is our reputation.  We try to bend over backward to help the homeowner throught their ordeal. 

I apologize for the miscommunication and wish this person would have idenified themselves as I personally apoligize.  Your home is your castle and we just want to help you protect the enormous wonderful investment.
