If there is something on your credit report that you do not agree with, like a overdue amount, or a repo, you have the right to challenge it. When a item is in challenge state it does not appear on your credit report. To challenge you must call the bureaus yourself. The place you are applying for new credit from sohould be able to give you the numbers to call based on what bureau they use (there are three main ones). Never just go to the place that reported you, challenge with the bureau to get it suspended while you fight it out.
