Complaint Review: ugly duckling car sales - gilbert Arizona

On 12/99, I was in dire need of a vehicle, I enlisted my brother's help in purchasing said vehicle. My brother took me to Ugly DUckling Car Sales, and although I had never ever heard positive feedback regarding this Car Sales Company my state of mind was not the best during this time, so I allowed my brother to help me negotiate a vehicle purchase (bear in mind that at this time my credit was not bad enough for me to be purchasing anything from this disreputable Company)

I went ahead and purchased a 1992 Oldsmobile Achieva that day, as I was driving this car home I had two, blowouts, a stranger came and changed the tires as best as he could he followed me to the car lot and one of the saleman gave me his spare!!! THey made arrangements for me to go to a local tire company and have them replace all 4 tires, I took the car and this was done.

Two months later, the car would not run, Just plain stopped working, by that time my 25yr old son had become involved in this nightmare (he chastised me alot for going to ugly duckling and actually purchasing a vehicle from them!!)he and a friend pushed the car into the parking lot and demanded that the sales mgr repair the vehicle and threaten to sue them with the AZ LEMON LAW, finally manager agreed they took my car and gave me a loaner.

It took Ugly DUckling a month to repair and this involved installing a new engine!!!! THis car since then has had a water pump replaced, fuel pump replaced, the transmission replaced in other words it has been out for repairs more than I have used it...

Later on one month I went in to make a payment, I'm used to going into the dealership and make cash payments...since I am such a trusting law abiding citizen and I work for the State of AZ, I am always in a hurry when I go in to make my payments.

On this particular day I waited for my receipt did not check it but folded it in tucked in my person, a week later Ugly Duckling called me and asked me where my payment was and why had I not made it??? So I took out my receipt and proceeded to give them the information on it...that's when I realized that the clerk had posted my payment to some guy in PHX, since I live 100 miles from the nearest Ugly duckling, I had to go find a fax and fax the credit dept my receipt--after that they did give me credit..

On 05/02/02 I went into the COlorado store and made a $350.00 payment, I gave the clerk all 50 dollar bills but since I had been burned once before by not checking the name on the receipt, I took the receipt and checked for my name, sure enough they had given me credit, I folded the receipt tucked it in my purse--a week later the credit dept calls me again and informs me that although I did make a payment I was shy $100.00 I checked my receipt and sure enough the little clerk only gave me credit for $250.00

I HAVE BEEN IN A STATE OF SHOCK since then, first of all I do not make mistakes like that-second if you check my record I always arrange to make 350.00 payment the beginning of each month because my finance are such that it is easier for me to make a big payment the first week of any month, payment history indicates this fact..I talked to the supervisor of the cashiers and of course she came back and said "No way I had only made a $250.00 payment!!!! I Know this is BS...

I am so sick and tired of Ugly Duckling I could cheerfully go and park the 1992 olds in their parking lot so that they themselves can shoot it....the car itself has been nothing but a money drain...I make repair after repair after repair..and yet the car shakes instead of running....I am making a $350.00 car payment monthly on piece aluminun that refuses to run!!!NOw I know that I Have overpaid for this vehicle..when I bought it the mileage on it was approx. 90000.00 it now has 122,000.00!!!!!

Now its not bad enough that the car does not run, Now they are ripping me off on my payments, If I don't watch me like with a magnifying glass they either keep my payment without giving me credit or credit someone else...THis company should not even be in business, not based on the quality of vehicles they sell...I am right now between a rock and a hard place..I manage a State office and my employees drive brand new cars with 250.00 payments per month and right now I am not even driving this bomb, I am driving my mother's car..simply because I am afraid this 1992 I purchase will disintegrate on me..

Please Help me, I am at the point where I would prefer to take the 350.00 I am supposed to pay and use it to buy me a kit to file for bankruptcy I would prefer to file rather than to give this thieving outfit my hard earned money.

I have been a single, divorced mother of 3 since 1975, so you know how hard I have had to struggle to make ends meet...

but right now I do not know what to do with this vehicle or with Ulgy Duckling----Please Help--I have even cried and cried over this situation to the point of making myself sick over it..

Any help you can give me I would be eternally grateful for..
