I rented a storage unit from U-Haul on October 4, 2002 through October 20, 2002. I payed for with my check card. On December 29 I realized that they had been automatically billing me $140.00 every month since October. I spoke to the manager on Dec. 30 and he said that they were not billing me and that it was another store. The Home officed confirmed that it was their store. I called back, He then said the computers were down and he could not help me.

I called back on December 31 and the manager said that I was not in the system and they could not find anything in my name. He said he could not do anything for me and to call his manager, Cindy. I called Cindy and was told she would not be in until Jan. 2.

On Jan. 2 I called Cindy that morning and left a message. When she had not called back by that afternoon, I called back and asked her secretaryif I could talk to Cindy's boss and she said that I could only talk to Cindy.

I called the store manager back. He said that they had billed October, November and December but that he had no record of me in the system. He said if I was currently renting a unit I would be in the system. I told him I knew I wasn't renting a unit because I had closed it out in October. He told me to call Cindy.

On Jan. 3, Cindy called. I told her my problem. Fortunately, the night before I had found a receipt that U-haul had given me when I closed out my unit. Cindy said since I had found that receipt that they would give me a refund.

I then called the store, but the store manager was not working that day. I called Cindy back and she said there was another store manager there that she spoke to about me. She then asked me to describe that receipt to her over the phone. I did. She said that that receipt didn't sound like the receipt they usually gave out. I lost it and yelled and cussed at her. She hung up on me.

I went to the store. The sotre manager called Cindy. The store manager verbally verified the receipt. I got my refund for $438.00 finally. I have never been so harraseed by a company before. No one apologized for the mistake and the harrassment they had given me.
